I don't know about that, Arthur. Plank a small piece and try it to see how it comes out.Charlestonguy wrote:has anyone used tung oil?
If you're asking about the Nautilus decks, there is no color to them other than the dark brown left from the laser etching. You have to paint them.amiers wrote:How realalistic are the colours on these decks?
If you're asking about the KA Models decks you posted the link to, I have no idea. I've never used them.

When my planks arrive I'll give it a shot, if it turns out I'll post a picture.Elvis965 wrote:I don't know about that, Arthur. Plank a small piece and try it to see how it comes out.Charlestonguy wrote:has anyone used tung oil?

update;
The planks are here, I took a picture of one laid down on the deck of my 1/75 scale bireme. It looks like this will work just fine. I'll post more after I have them installed.

Do you glue all the hardware on the deck such as coulings, vents, etc. before you start the planking? What do you use to cut the pieces of planking ? Thanks for your answers, Hank45

Using an HO scale 1 x 3 for planking would give a width (in 1/350 scale) og slightly over 12" in width. Is that an accurate width for WWII battleships?

Charleston...
I would not use tung oil with acrylics. They will react with each other over time. Not sure about enamels. Also, question for anyone using the strips to plank the decks, are you removing the smaller fittings and adding them later, or are you working around them? Anyone tring to simulate the black caulking used to seal between timbers?
