Am I seeing things or does this Slava class cruiser have 3 rudders? In past some ships had only center rudders. Now this image looks like it has 3. Maybe an emergency rudder???

I see only one in the center. The two at the sides are just wooden (?) posts.

I have a kit question... the Trumpeter Kirov/Ushakov 1/700, I'm wondering if the ship comes with the same armament sprue that is in the Frunze that's reviewed on the site - as in, is it provisioned with Kashtan and AK-630 systems? I'm considering a seriously refitted and modernized Kirov, and as such I was in a manner wondering about what's in the box with the 700 Kirov.

Hello guys,

Could anyone give me some advise about the correct shape of the Kirov's superstructure as the attached photos below. It seen the Trumpeter's Kirov is not correct, for all the photos I've study showing that the lower wall should be in vertical (or very littel angle). The last photo showing "A" slant wall creat a wider angle and shape, "B" is the real ship with a lower vertical wall and the result come with a different shape of the joint line!! I've been using 3D softwarte to test the result and proof it come with the "B" jont line when the wall goes from slant to vertical.

Wish to hear your advise soon!! :wave_1:

Thanks!! Bob

As you said the model is inaccuracies, I think we need to retouch them one by one, as many as possible :doh_1: I guess all modeler will try to build their dream boat/ship, no matter how tough it will be!!

For this kit, as someone said before. Seen it is mix up with its following ship (Frunze - you've got the wrong decal from the box :dead: ) even the others!! Right now I am working on the SS-N-19 hatchs(20pcs), and I think I can finish them this week. Then I will come back for this issue. :dead: :dead:

Though Trumpeter is unforgiveable on these mistakes, hope these matter will be fixed with the coming ships. And they still have gave us a dream to own such a nice ship model. :jump_1:

Bob, thanks for sharing your idea and wish to see your Kirov soon  by the way, could you tell me how much you've bought the Kirov, It took me HK$530 and with a set of WEM HK$380. I'm also waiting for the last Ship(Peter the Great).

Regards,

This detail is quite difficult to be clarified as the upper part of the door is shadowed in all photos. I'll try to find something better.

Well guys another person laid out some big money to get the 1/350 kit of the Pyotr Velikiy. My biggest surprise is how fast it arrived here. 4-5 days from Japan to Sydney Australia. I expected to wait a week or so, so no complaints with service from Hobbylink Japan, I'll recommend them on good service and shipping. I have been following the comments about the mistakes with the kit and well guys you must remember one thing, WE ARE MODELERS ! Errors are there for us to correct if we find them or just build straight out of the box if your an assembler.
Now with that comment behind us I'm a modeler and will be glad to receive any info that will be needed to correct the model where I can. I know the superstructure may be wrong but that may be to much rebuilding so I might pass on that correction but YANNIS KARYSTINOS do you have more images of your model showing clearly what you did to get this result. Would like a clear shot looking under the waterline so to speak.

Ozpirate i'm afraid i can't help you with this specific technique because it' s carr's model, not mine.
Nevertheless i can help by posting some pictures that speak for themselves. Bob i hope it's not too late to build the helicopter hangar.

Ozpirate, he's outlined the process of constructing that in his build thread: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=42741

Bob,

The photos of all Kirov class vessels on drydock are very rare and usually are not showing much for obvious reasons but I'll try to find some anyway. Even from the worst photo you can get some info.

I think a good approach is to look for answers on another model that seems accurate. For example the model of Petr Veliky you showed to describe the aft "tunnel". If it's accurate in such details maybe you can rely on that. On the other hand if you want to use only photos of the real thing as reference you'll have to omit any detail that is not cross-checked.

Best regards

Hi to everyone,

Unfortunately i couldn't find any detailed photos of Kirov's lower hull. The best have been sent already.

Bob pardon me for not been clear. When i suggested to you to search for information on the Petr Veliky model i meant info regarding the lower hull. You are absolutely right that Kirov and Petr Veliky have numerous differences to superstructure weapons and electronics. Fortunately there are lots of photos to solve all the mysteries above the waterline.

Best regards
Yannis
