I might be able to help you, but it won't be until my visit to NARA next month if I don't have the info already at home. I have seen multiple documents listing out the US fleet organization, but as they were each about 100 pages or more, I haven't scanned in more than a couple sheets. Those sheets were of some PT Rons, which I sent to Garth. I still have copies at home and will look when I get there, but they're not broken down by operation and I can't remember what month they were.
If they're not of help, I can pull some of the other ones the next time I'm at NARA, which will be the week of July 6th.
Thanks, Tracy!
I've confirmed, now, that MTB RONs 7, 12, 21, 33, and 36 were there for the attack in October 1944. I have found info for the patrol areas for their assigned Sections of 3 PT Boats each and which PT was in which Section. Now I am looking for where the three AGPs were located to support these Sections. I saw thumbnail of a map showing where Oyster Bay was located, but I've lost that web page, now.
I found this excerpt from "At Close Quarters"
"On September 12 (1944) Commander Bowling temporarily shifted his pennant to Oyster Bay and sailed with the Mobiack and Squadrons 9, 10, 18, and 33 for Morotai in the Halmaheras, arriving there September 16, the day after the initial amphibious landings. Oyster Bay with 10 boats of Squadron 33 returned to Mios Woendi on October 6, and a week later, with Commander Bowling again aboard, departed with two new seaplane-type tenders, Wachapreague and Willoughby, and 45 PT's of Squadrons 7, 12, 21, 33, and 36, for Leyte Gulf in the Philippines. They arrived there at dawn on October 21, a day after the major assault landings on the island of Leyte."
