Kelly, the fiber optic lighting really makes that island stand out. I can't wait to see the finished ship.

Kelly are you gonna make her look like this.Kelly Quirk wrote:I went ahead with my idea of lighting up the island numbers with fiber-optics. It took some patience, but the result isn't too bad...

Re: 1/350 USS Truman
Ha, that'd be cool but the lighting is finished on this one!
Chris, that Nimitz looks great so far!
Just picked up the name plate for this project:

The artwork was done by my good friend Rick Brownlee, then a trophy shop printed it on a thick piece of plastic. I really love the way it looks!

Kelly, in a word, this build is AWESOME! I have been anxiously following your thread, and I have picked up a lot of pointers I have used on my build of the Nimitz,a nd even more that I plan to use when I start the Abraham Lincoln soon.

Hi Kelly,
Fantastic work on this incredible project! I was wondering where you got that highly detailed CIWS, is it scratch built from the kit parts or is it AM? If AM, where did you get it?
TIA
Brad

Re: 1/350 USS Truman
Thanks again guys! Brad, the CIWS is a resin AM item made by Veteran. They do a modern weapon set that is really very nice, only wish they did a Sea Sparrow launcher as well...Brad-M wrote:Hi Kelly,

This build just gets better and better, i ran out of words to describe it many posts ago, you set a great standard, not only for 1/350 but across the whole modeling spectrum.
I too wish Veteran made a Mk29 a Mk25 would also be good.
Happy Modeling

Re: 1/350 USS Truman
Question, do all the 1/350 carriers have to measure up to this one?

Re: 1/350 USS Truman
I sure hope that all the carriers don't have to measure up to this!!! If they do, then I think I may havt to wave the white flag!

Another astonishing build Kelly, looks like it's going to be a big winner.

I was depressed last night, so I rang lifeline. Got a call centre in
Afghanistan and told them I was suicidal.
They got all excited and asked if I could drive a truck.
