Thanks Bob - that's exactly what I was looking for. I'm ashamed to say that I still do not have the kit! But all our discussions will be saved for reference :thumbs_up_1:

@Guido: It's the airbase.ru forum. I think there's a link to the Kirov thread on their site in our own Kirov class fans thread.

HORRAY!!!

He`s back!!! (& god help the guilty!!!)

Really glad to see your back buildin again, Bob!

I forgot to ask, what ARE you building? is it straight Kirov, Ushanko or one of the "other`s?"

My build is on hiatus, i`m waitin for WEM to release their "Kirov Supplementary" fret, allegedly due before Xmas.

The only thing i don`t like about your build is the wait between installments!! can`t you just kiss the world goodbye for 6 weeks or so, & sit chained to the modelling desk til it`s done?!!??

Seriously, this is just top, TOP QUALITY STUFF!!!!

also, how much do you expect to scratchbuild? & any ideas about the propellor`s?

This ain`t NO straightforward build of anything!!!

With regards to the WEM PE set, I spoke to John there. It`s going to have ALL the lettering for the stern names for all the class, the railings for Pyotr Velikiy that are different to Kirov & some Palm Frond radar`s, amongst other bits. no price as yet, but i`m hoping it`s only on 1 fret & around the £20-25 mark.

Although i said i`m stalled, i do bits on P.V still, & am currently doin the life raft containers & PE supports. slow, SLOW tedious work, but i`m hoping it`s gonna be worth it! just done the signal gantry, too. doddle..... (um, no...)

whats wrong with the AA weapons? the PV one`s seem ok, but i`ve not got the references you do. & about those props???

Keep up the amazing work, i`m really a fan & miss the regular updates.

Sweet Zombie , Bob - this is turning into one hell of a build, beautifully researched, and your detailing is absolutely awesome. Keep up the good fight, man, don't let the kit's shortcomings beat you!

Hello Bob

I must say that this is a very good level of dementia - the good one for us, at least!
A very nitpicking project to follow with much interest, and although not my scale, I will learn somethings for a half size project

Keep up the good work
Cheers,
Rui

Ive got a small question.
How do you remove those details whitout deleting the stuff that you want to keep?
What for material do you use?
Because when i use abrasive paper, i mostly delete the details i want to keep.

Greetingz

Mitch ;)

The object on the walkway appears to be based on Peter:

I wonder if the Peter kit accounts for the much larger housing that supports that dome.

Hmmm, good to note the area in question - I'll have to pay attention for that when I get around to the Modified Kirov I have planned, as that area can expect a little alteration anyways.

What colour are you using for the decks?

The assembly of the superstructure is great... :thumbs_up_1:
