norbert your rangfinder and funnel are suberb,i don't know how you and dave wooley make such fine cuts but they are very crisp,do you use a #11 blade or a chopper.

Hi Russ, thank you.
i have seeing your model and really as say Wooley you are a fine scratchbuilder.
well about the cuts(you are refering to a styrene or brass?) if styrene i use a simple Olfa 300
too i use a hard cutter(just a very large blade- next time i take a pic to show my tools) and one EXCEL cutter(medium) to make cuts in styrene.
in circular cuts i use the olfa ratchet cutter. not specially tools but funcionally and a good quality.
but t o cut my stainless steel perforated platform is a big poblem( i don't have specially tools just a dremel routary and
i use this to cut and a lot of patience cause stainless stell is hard like stone(and the plate have just 0.3mm)) :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: thanks for ask

Norbert "magnificent workmanship"
You attention to the fine detail on the range finder and radar mattress is inspiring. I do like the work around the funnel casing particularly around the ventilator panels this is superb. Both Russ and yourself are working on similar areas of the ship, armoured tower /bridge platforms and are both taking scratch building in styrene to very fine level . It's a true delight to see and appriciate . Like Russ I am also interested to see the type of tools you use . We can compare notes on this one.

Superb workmanship as always!
I was wondering on picture 06930 about the funnel diagram underneath the plastic. Did you develop this yourself? I am struggling to interpret the plans I have and this drawing seems to be highly detailed for the builder.
Thank you.

Hi Dave, thank you so very much the comments and kind words.
the range finder still not complete. i need to insert some metal bars(very fine and delicate) but as i say stillnot have a good soldering station(i need purchase some one urgent) so this range antenae is epoxy glued minus the tripod mast i soldering(soft) and work with file to "lapidate" the soldering joint. i need to do soldering work as you do. too is very inspirating for me. Russ is doing a very good model and work as you are doing in your magnificent Kiev.
my tools are basic i think but i am take one picture to show it. i use pliers, cutters, wetdry sandpaper(many grits), dremel,etc... i am take one picture and show my specially tool i have is a circular saw motorized - wonderfull machine to cut tubes(plastic or metal) in angles too.
i would like again to thank you about the encouragment you give for all modellers(includes me) cause to do a ship model
is not easy in many aspects - psicologic too and encouragment is the best "tool" for us and U2.
Many regards my friend
sincerely
Norberto :wave_1: :thumbs_up_1:
