Hi Norbert It's truly amazing how much detail can be added . Both you and Kiwi Medic are producing outstanding work , with quite different materials . A very difficult subject done exceptionally well . :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :wave_1:

Hi Norberto,

marvelous detailing, fantastic progress

I would like to ask you some more questions regarding your technique

as I did understand, first you make a drawing of the plan in desired scale, print it out and cut the shape, now the questions:

1. do you glue the paper template to styrene sheet before cutting ? if so, what glue? just simple white paper glue?
2. how do you taking the glued paper shape off the styrene part after cut? you just to apply water and wait the glue to dissolve?
3. I hope I Am right, but I can remember from one of your post, you are an apple mac user (same as I Am), what program do you use for plan drawings and how do you print it in scale? I had just been given scans of my Rodney plans in a big jpeg and I wonder how to deal with on a mac. I tried to work with in preview app, it is usable for cutting part of the picture and print it out in desired scale, but as you had written, you are a professional plan drawer, therefore I expect you to work with some more sophisticated application as 2D CAD or so. May you suggest something not to expensive but suitable?

regards,
Cenek

Hi Cenekh great from you and thanks a lot.
well as i said one time i print my drawing( i redraw in Adobe Illustrator) a 2D view and in 1:100 scale. sure i use one scan of the plan to redraw and
make a better simetry cause the simetry of a computer really is much more efficacy than hand drawing.
well i use double face ribbon to glue paper drawing to styrene plate. is so much efficacy this method cause white glue don't work very well(in my opinion) in the plastic and you may need wait the glue dry. in some small cases i use white glue but just in small cases. i prefer double face and i don't use the double face in all drawing. Just in some parts cause is unecessary. Yes i use Macintosh platform.
about your request subject. if you use jpg( i think so many use this method of jpg) you can use it with no problem.
i would like to explain one thing about that.
i use AD. Ilustrator and you use Photshop or any program to manipulate your scan drawings. Ok.
The difference of ADOBE iLUSTRATOR of the Photoshop is the Illustrator works with lines and Photoshop with pixels. so a small file of Illustrator can be rezise with no loss of quality and the print quality of this don't change with resize. in the Photoshop to have a good quality you need a great file to have the same quality of illustrator.
so if you can't acess to illustrator or if you don't know how use the program you can use the jpg files in photoshop and with a medium DPI(about 150) you can have a not so good quality but satisfactory to print your plan an see a good lines of the drawing plan. sure if you have more DPI more the quality you have but more the size of your file. i mean wich wit a drawing of 2 meters is so much heavy in terms of file. one thing you can do is leave your file in grayscale to reduce size. so if you have the same size of the drawin g but using A. Illustrator you can see the difference in size and quality. Photoshop is not adequate great to line art drawings cause is not a vectorial program. but mainly peoples use the photoshop but with a small DPI. my Bismarck have more 251 centimeters and is coloured but the size is small.
I don't use CAD but this program is better than illustrator because can so much more resources than 2D.
to not complicate this if you can print in your office or home with a good quality use your file(jpg) and print it and see what quality gives. if ok don't loose your time. i wait you understand this book i write here :heh:

Hi Norberto,

what a surprise you are online at the time from far side of the world :-)

I do understand your answer well. Thank you for an immediate feedback.

My scans created by professional copy company are A1 size scanned to 300 DPI (I believe)

Since the paper plans for scanning were already carbon copy B&W copies, I will have to deal with quality I have (I consider it quite enough since building in 1:200 scale, the plans are using 1:100 scale) , but i will try both adobe products in order to see what is better for me.

I will try to play a bit with and give a feedback of my approach chosen.

ok Cenekh in true my office horary is ending.
now is 17:50 p.m.
i am happy if you can acquire some adobe product. are very good.
to learn Illustrator is not difficult but sure for me with long long years in this road is more easy to speak or do.
the difference when you redraw and print your file is certainly very good.
what import is a better quality drawing. if you have a good quality sure you can make a much more than a bad quality.
i say wit a bad plan to do my KGV i suffer with it.
now you have make efforts to build your model and show us...
best regards from Brasil :wave_1:
