acheson1 wrote:Vladimir - that is great news. Are there any plans to scale up to 1/350 using the new CAD programs? A late-fit Gangut in 1/350 would be extraordinarily impressive. Once again - am wondering if I there are others who find this battleship as aesthetically compelling as I do. There is something ominously Soviet about its lines. And, along with the Fuso and Yamashiro, it is the quintissential early-20th century dreadnought, technologically obsolete and almost quaint, dressed to fight on a new and far more dangerous battlefield.
At the moment they don't have any plans to produce either WWI or WWII version of Gangut in 350th scale.

When Combrig produced their original Gangut in 1/700 scale did they produce the sister ships also? Also I was just wondering if the new kits
corrected the undersize problem the original kit had? I have to admit I enjoyed building the Gangut a few years back but it seemed quite underscaled.

Originally they only produced the Gangut. The new version has corrected the underscale problem. I've measured it a while ago and while I don't remember the exact dimensions, it's within 1mm of what it is supposed to be.

Combrig's site is having server problems and seems to come and go. We are working to resolve the problem and we'll let you know when it is back up.

These look great.

Any chance of a 1/350 Gangut in WWII or 1914 fit?

There are no plans to do Gangut in 350th scale right now.

Out of interest, Vladimir, are you able to advise what Combrig do have plans for? Might whet the appetite (or maybe the pants!!) of some forum members.

cheers,

bj

Actually since I'm just the webmaster for them, I only know what is sent to me to put on the site, or what was mentioned in the private conversations. I haven't seen their long term roadmap (mostly because there isn't one as far as I know).

For the releases that are in the works you can look here:
http://combrig-models.com/index.php/new ... 00-relases
http://combrig-models.com/index.php/new ... 50-relases
However what is the status of each individual release and when they will be released I don't know.

I've asked and it seems that it will be out sometime this winter around New Year, maybe a bit after it.

I'll try one last time. Would anyone else be interested in a 1/350 WW-II fit Gangut? Certaintly one of the more interesting warships in the Soviet fleet.
