Herbie U should get a pretty reasonable run time in the 'hours zone' with those 2 batteries ! I run same 900's with the equivalent of 12v14ah per motor and get many hours of running, not all run is gonna be at Max speed so you won't be drawing maximum discharge rate from Batt's.
She's gonna be awesome on the water!
Shop around scrap dealers, bottle recyclers and the like for best lead price or use water ballast tanks.

To be honest, not a total success - the rubber couplings did not grip on one shaft - shaft pulled out when going in reverse!

I will glue em in............

Lots of power though -heaps from each motor
Going to need A LOT! of ballast
Oh -and I did my back launching her -ouch! LOL!

(no leaks from stern tubes at all -good!)

Great Pic's Herbie!! Those 900BB motor's have masses of torque. Esc's are gonna be your next expensive purchase Check out ACTION electronics they do a dual esc (run's 2 motor, so you would only need 2) or go with 4 Electronize FR15's (approx. $56Au each from Westbourne models) U could maybe get away with a pair of their FR30's running a pair of motor's each, but they R $70Au ea.

Always have a helper ( or 2) with a big beast like that!!

yamato is coming along very well,the size of her is impressive.i don't think the pool will be big enough to get her up to speed

I am very happy to see your Yamato in water , my advice to the ballast for your model and use the water in the reservoirs between ordiante, and using a ponpa to enter and exit the water as on my Yamato .
Unfortunately I'm back with the work to finish the coating, fiberglass my Yamato, in addition to this other family problems that I do not allow the conclusion of the hull ...... I hope that sooner or later you will see photos of my Yamato, and the project two destroyer class kageru in the same scale 1 / 72

Herbie when you did your Testin the pool, that was just direct off the Battery wasn't it?? I did some power testing of USS Long Beach's drive setup and with 55mm 5blde props the motors draw around 11amps and have 130watts of power at max throttle. With your much bigger props I would suggest one ESC per motor (more expensive in short term but better than replacing em when they let out the magic smoke!!) As I would expect your motor's 2 pull much more Amps than my smaller props. You could use a Multimeter 2 check amp draw in the pool. Give you an idea what size ESC's you need ( probably 4 Electronize FR30's !! $280 ish for 4...)

No idea what they sucked -it was a very quick test -I am in a financial hole at the moment with life -(car prang, kid getting into Uni, ect, ect -so i am building other plastic bits at the moment -cheap stuff to do.

I dropped my camera! -broke it too -so pictures delayed as well.

Its been a tough month........... I did have some strangers look at the beast -they were very impressed -which was very encourageing......

For me -this entire project has been about trying something new, and learning stuff.

I knew buggar all about radio control ect.

So -lets learn

I am building a 1/200 nichimo in parrallel , after this weekend it is now speed controlled and rudder controlled.
george at the hobby shop in castle hill was fantastic -and now when i recieve a cheque I am waiting for - i can tackle the beasts R/C with confidence -it really worked -and i have learnt some good lessons.....

have done a little work on the focastle stuff too.
next steps -paint hull (waiting on birthday pressie of spray gun ect,) and then fit R/c to beast.
