Im pretty sure IJN Akagi had safety net after her second reconstruction.Every IJN Carrier had to be more specific(at least during the WWII).

Thank you for the info. I can't find anything as far as if she had safety nets during the 1935-1939 Time frame. Does the group think I should go with the layout of the nets as I see on some models during the Pearl Harbor Task Force?

Thank you,

Sam

Hello all,

I'm new around here; name's Erik, 43 years old from the Netherlands. Interested in aviation and armor modelling and since some time also ship modelling. The enthousisasm of the ship guys in IPMS the Netherlands finally rubbed off! :thumbs_up_1:

Anyhow, I just ordered the Hase 1/350 Akagi with PE-set A,B and C. It seems to be a little more difficult to find the Superdetail set with the PE parts of the structures under the flight deck.

Does anyone know where this set still is available? Or for plan B; doing it myself, where can I get the plans / books (and which ones) to (try and) scratchbuild it myself?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!
Best regards,
Erik.

This is a photo outtake from a film clip of Akagi's port side 4.7cm HA guns during practice. You can see hints of the netting overhead. At this position, netting would be the same, regardless of time frame.

Dan;

Great photo and thank you for the info. I may put some of the netting up. I need to do some research on the color of the netting.

Thank you,
Sam

Any thoughts on the Eduard etch for the Hase 1/350 Akagi? I already have all the Hasegawa etch, but is there anything that could be bettered with parts from the Eduard set?

The only thing I don't like about the Hasegawa PE (out of the box, I mean) is their inclined ladders. They just give you railings and expect you to use the plastic bases still. So if the Eduard set comes with replacement inclined ladders there could be something there...

The new IJN Kaga from Fujimi in 1/700 is out.
As you will notice, Fujimi offers the option for 6 or 4 forward aircraft deck supports.

Enjoy !

Looks nice! First thing that stands out for me: aircraft parts all cast in transparent plastic, but notably, canopies cast as seperate pieces. No more - or minimal - canopy masking/painting.

Guess I'll be getting a package from HLJ soon (where it is actually still listed as "Pre-order."

By the way, Fujimi at last minute changed the art box. Few kits where boxed on the old one so anyone who will have the first ones will have a nice collectible item.
The new art work:

Wondering who will be the first to release a 1/350 IJN Kaga, and if Hasegawa will release a pre modernization IJN Kaga in 1/700.

The ship's half-length horizontal funnel was quite distinctive. Would be nice to have a plastic kit of such to match the 3-deck Akagi.
