One quick question... Do those side doors open onto the RIB decks? Do you then need a different moulding for the RIB side of the door?

Hi NorthSea That is a really good question . As far as I remember there was only the door from the hanger into the RIB gallery and no WT door the other side just an opening , but I'll have to check out my photos to confirm this . This will need to be finalized when I start work on the RIB gallery . The second WT door leads onto the flight deck via a separate passage way .

Hi Andrew Thank you. Just for interest the camera is a Canon G9, I had that one when you where over in the UK .It has a really good macro and with a bi-pod attachment I can make effective use of the digital zoom. It is such a versatile camera which saves hauling around heavy and expensive lenses for heavy and expensive SLRs, but every one to their own I guess . A friend of mine shooting the pictures at the Model Boat Convention usually has a Canon EOS -1D but he�s just acquired a Canon G12 for shoots on models The G12 reverted back to the rotating screen as fitted to the old G5, a very useful feature and one I missed when I aquired the G9. There is a superb filter adapter for the G12 which makes for an easy life when shooting models in class cases.

Hi 109 good to hear from you .Yes airbrushing the inside of the hanger is like airbrushing a ship in a bottle Pity there is no such thing as a "mini airbrush"

Well air brushing was the next task. The pressure was set low which I think helped to airbrush in such a confined space. As mentioned the interior is a light grey and not the shade used for the exterior. For that I relied on WEM.
First task was to airbrush the roof fittings, starting with the mobile crane.

Next........ The overhead pipe work for the fire suppressant sprinkler system.

With the roof space trunking and beams airbrushed the crane guides or tracks where brush painted. Once dry the crane was added to the assembly.

Each of the sprinkler pipes where then added

The assembly as seen from underneath.

With the roof assembly ready the main fire sprinkler pipe was fitted to the top of the side bulkhead. Within the hanger space .

The roof assembly is then re-fitted into place but NOT fixed.

Each of the red sprinkler pipes across the roof assembly join to the larger diameter red pipe at the top of the hanger side bulkhead.

Next job fitting the fume extraction pipes , rails and airbrushing the floor space.

Hi Joachim . Yes the crane can move but only by hand Recently In my home city of Liverpool there has been the annual River Festival and a group of Belgium modellers asked me if I would show them around the area and take them on a real D-Day DUKW . We did both . Why I recount this is the Belgium modellers are the same crew that display the impressive and huge D-Day diorama at the Intermodellbau . Liverpool has 4 of these original DUKW operating for tourists and they go into the dock system ,swim around and re-emerge onto the dock, great fun. Also visited by the Belgium crew was the �Western Approaches Museum� which in effect is the old command and control centre for the Battle of the Atlantic . Its a network of underground rooms , some huge others not so and is exactly the same in "every" respect as it was in 1943 , interesting place and covers an area of about 4sq km . It is here that the Bismarck chase was monitored including all the charts and photos . Good to hear from you .

Roel my friend what can I say . OK I am still researching for more pictures of the Stereguchiy .I hate not being able to see round corners As I mentioned the Daring is for the magazine and is essentially a semi kit from Fleetscale but the hanger is an "optional task" along with the boat galleries . Having said all that it's good that you keep reminding me on the scratch project .I just want to get started I can't wait to get my teeth into that Kashtan

Hi Robbie thanks for your reply .I would be only too pleased to help send me a PM and we will go from there. As I said in my own reply your 45 build is superb but not just on the outside. Good to see you are progressing so well .My attention is now centered on the remainder of the ship but the interior of the bridge will need to be looked at very soon and for much the same reason as that required for the hanger space. The two RIB galleries are less of a problem but on the other hand they contain a considerable amount of detail, for example the space behind the RIB. OK I know the old argument of "out of site out of mind�. The question is if it�s there and partly visible should it be incorporated into the model and when do you call a halt to how much detail to add? Questions , questions but like you I really need more pictures .Although I was let loose time was the limiting factor otherwise I would have been there for a week. The Rivers batch 1s are an example I have spent a considerable amount of photo time aboard these vessels and I never get fatigued but have I all that I want , the short answer is no and I never will have .
