Update....

Overnight my chum Steve Foulkes doubleckecked me...( always wise!) and reversed the image

He also corrected a couple of lines that could have been a bit better

here is a screenshot of the reversal of the characters in a variety of subtle size variations....

A milestone has been reached...

Construction per se has ceased--the model has now been flatcoated --ready for the comencement of the fairly extensive rigging...

Before that however I managed to complete a few small tasks....

the laboriously made name decals have now been applied

The funnel cages had been bothering me...

the real ship carried tall rounded items--suspended above the funnel on legs

I made mine by creating an athwarships bow in 0.1 mm stainless wire, upon which I then balanced and glued a circle of the same 0.1 mm wire- tacked with varnish.
Once this varnish had set , I backed it up with a droplet of CA appled with a piece of stretched sprue( springy and soft--will not dislodge the delicate assembly )

thereafter I spanned the circle and centre bow with black stretched sprue

( The photos are before painting for clarity )- I was able to tack the centre convergance of the sprue with the aint so that all lay symetrical

I made a small windsock for the port wing of the bridge--added an Ensign from my dwindling supply of Dunagain decals... made the liferings on fwd bridge and aft from copper wire , ( make spiral, cut , align and flattenin pliers), made 2 x small windlasses fr the fwd derricks and added the awning rigging stnchions on the bridge.
and finally .....

added the davit rigging for the boats made of stretched sprue

The sprayed flat coat has rather pulled it all together quite niceley --

and now I look forward to doing the rigging!

That's looking good Jim, but don't forget I did come round your place, I did see that 6 foot hand you have in the garden, so be fair when showing a photo with a hand holding a 3 foot long model lol

Just can't believe there's a parental link between these not so thin fingers and such a finely detailed model...
The davit's rigging looks very fine, looks like the boat could actually be moved up and down from the model
Also like the orange/pink light reflection on the hull, we're in far North for sure!

@ alec.... good point in principle...

however not a single photo of Krassin-

-even the large high res images-- do not show any discernible discolouration of the funnels

The black tops of course are quite broad--and despite being a coalburner contemporay photos show littel or no sooting down the yellow parts either--I can only conclude that the very tall funnels were effctive at smoke dispersal !

At long last... I can now begin to obsess about something new ....

It has been a most interesting project--and do thank all my e-chums who have been most helpful all round the world

especially Kronma and Cerberus jf--who both have an uncanny knack of being able to see 'the wood for the trees....'

much to my good fortune...

Hi, Jim!
The flag was a Soviet - red. This flag was in all civil courts and the Soviet merchant ships from 1918 to 1992.
On the main mast rising pennant Northern Shipping Company in 1923, and in 1932 raised the pennant NSRA.
Pennants can be seen in this picture:
