She looks beautiful, 1/350th or 1/700 or both?

She's in 1:350th scale.

Would you be interested in a 1:700th version ?

yes, considering all of the cold war ships starting to come out in 1/700, Boston would be a nice addition.

A 1/350 CAG?! SWEET!!!!!! Any chance of getting a conversion kit or another version depicting her as built with all of the early radar and directors on her? Do you guys have a ballpark on the release date yet?

Dan, Niko has a 1/700 version.

Release date scheduled for the end of May.

As for an earlier version, there are considerable differences in radar fit & some superstructure changes to be made. I will consider it to see if it is feasible or not without creating a completely different kit.

Thanks Phil.

It appears that learning from a master has its benefits.

Just received the Yankee Model 1/350 USS Boston for Freetime Hobbies! I think I will write a short review and post it in the Review section.

Well, I've been making semi-steady progress on my Boston and am curious, is anyone else on the forum actually working on their kit? I'd like to know your impressions...

Thanks,
Randy

Randy,

I keep waiting for some kind soul to post a review of Boston before I get off my wallet. Any chance you can share pics of your build and impressions of the kit?

Cheers,

Keith

Ask and ye shall receive. The two photos below show current status. In a nutshell:

- the hull halves are joined and faired. In the process I had to remove the cast-in armor belt (which according to specs I have was way too thick anyway) and replace with a more in-scale one.

- maindeck superstructure pieces have been joined/faired and cleaned up - which in this case means all vertical surfaces scrubbed off and started over.

- 01 deck superstructure pieces joined/faired, cleanup begun but not complete.

- one 8" turret started.

All other parts in the photos are straight OOB and "just sitting there." I am trying to maintain a detailed build log... but sometimes I find myself spending more time on the log than on the build. Anyway, recording the good and the bad of my experience with this kit - ample of both.
