Good afternoon all,

My name is Paul and reside in Malta. At the moment I am building a 1:72 scale model of the German WW2 Heavy Battlecruiser the "Scharnhorst". My difficulty is the aircraft hanger. I would like to detail the interior of the hanger, but could not find any details.
Can anyone advise me as how to post some photos of the progrss?
I would be very grateful if you could help me out.

Thanks and best regards

Hi Paul Good to have you aboard and welcome. Posting pictures is quite straight forward . I tend to use Photobucket but click here for the instructions .

Hello all,

I followed the instructions and with no success. the pics I am tring to upload are 800 x 600 pixels. I am following the instructions step by step, but seem to be doing something wrong or missing out something.

Please bear with me until I get this thing right. Computors are not my friends at all.

Meanwhile if anyone wishes to see the whole article on the Scharnhorst, that is at least up to the last progress I made during the weekend, please type out "IPMS Malta". once in the home page, go to the forum, scroll dowm until you will find the models in progress section, click on marine, and there it is - at the top of the page.

Once again, excuse my ignorance inelectronics - I will eventually get it right, and post the whole set of photos here as well. After all we are all scale modellers, and our prime gain is to get more people into our hobby. :thumbs_up_1:

thanks for your understanding and best regards from the little island of Malta. :cool_2:

Paul and I are on Freindly terms, and are posted on about 6 sites together. He couldn't get the pic thing quite figured out so Im posting this pic to show what his project looks like. This is an old pic however his work is awe inspiring and very detailed. This ship is constructed from Cardboard and parimered and sanded like You would do with wood. The gun barrols are lathed alluminum, and the figures are from Revels 1/72 scale U boat model. You can see this Project at SSM IPMS Malta.

Hello all, :wave_1:

Please excuse me for my long absence, I have been very busy with other things. During these past months, I have progressed a lot. Basically I have constructed all the basic superstructure, including the main and the secondary gun turrets, togather with the 7mtr range finder and the 12mtr range finder with it's main radars installation.

There are over 300 pictures to post, so i shall try to do it during the weekend.

I have attached a picture showing the view of the main range finder and radars installation, totally scratch built employing over 1,650 pieces and 4 months of work. Materials used is 1mm thick cardboard, styrene sheets, styrene rods, copper wire, brass, aluninium and spring steel wire.

Will make contact again during the weekend.

Cheers.

Paul.

Hello richard, :wave_1:

Yes at last I am back. Had a lot of house jobs to do and I am not ready as yet, but nearing the finish line.

As I said, I have more than 300 pictures to post, so I will start on saturday morning and try to post them all at one go. If not, I will continue on Sunday.

I tried to take as many photos as i could to be self explanatory, but if you would need more imformation, or would like to ask questions, please do not hesitate to do so.

Cheers.

Paul.

Hello all, :wave_1:

So here I am at last to start posting the progress pictures.

I shall be posting the pictures according to their section. I shall start off firt with the works carried out on the main turrets.

Ths main turrets are completly scratchbuilt using 1mm thick card board as the main construction medium. Of course laminated to gin thickness and strength. The gun barrels are made from solid aluminium bars and turned on my lathe.

For those who are interested in card board, please take note of how the stiffeners and reinforcements are laid out. These are not there just for show, but to ensure that in future, the object constructed will not warp or distort, while able to handle change in temperature and humidity.

The main turrets are just finished with four, brush applied coats of grey primer and eft there for the time being.
