Found this Jason. Don't know if its artistic license or not though.

Don't know if this is accurate or not as well but, "Sunk: At 1936 hours, MUSASHI capsizes to port and sinks by the bow in 4,430 feet of water in the Visayan Sea at 13-07N, 122-32E. Two explosions are heard." If it is she'd be in nice shape, not withstanding the battle damage.

interesting... I'm sure the wreck model is pure "artistic license" especially after trying "google translate" on some of the builder's notes. The main turrets would almost certainly have fallen out when she capsized too.

It would really be something if the Musashi was in as good shape as the Bismarck; she might even be upright if she sank in water 4500 ft deep. I still haven't found any info on the wreck; I guess nobody's gone down and looked at it yet.

I'm learning that battleships don't usually sink well; the honeycomb of watertight compartments in the average battleship tend to guarantee they implode as they sink... not to mention the fact they usually sink due to battle damage! The Bismarck seems to the be exception but she was likely scuttled at the end, explaining why she isn't a pile of twisted wreckage like the Hood or Yamato.

Im pretty sure the reason Yamato and probably Musashi exploded was due to the beehive shells exploding. This was also probably the reason why Mutsu exploded.

Musashi took 17 torpedoes (15 of which detonated) and 18 bombs. Then her magazines exploded underwater. My guess is that even if she didn't blow herself in two like Yamato did, she is still basically a total mess of twisted steel.

From what I've read, The Yamato was laid down in 1937, and according to what I've read the Akagi was completed in the same year, So might this be the house that Yamato was built?

Or maybe this one, they look a lot like the slip that a lot of places say where she was built.
Image
But from what I've seen and read , the Akagi slip looks more accurate. What do you think?

By "year Akagi was completed", you meant her remodel, right (which actually finished in '38)? Akagi was commissioned ten years earlier, in '27.

Japanese large caliber battleship shells of WW2 were notoriously sensitive. Once the ship capsized and the shells rolled and hit their tops against the bulkhead, an explosion was likely. Yamato, Musashi, Kongo and Kirishima all suffered magazine explosions after capsizing.

Timmy, I did not know that. Ya know everything you read on the internet is right. :deadhorse: I'm sorry I've been dying to use that one LOL. But If that is correct then the slip shown would've had the time for the deepening of that slip and have been prepared for the Yamato?

Yamato and Musashi were built in new, specially built drydocks. They were not launched in the conventional fashion. Though they were both built at Kure, Yamato's fitting out occurred after Akagi's modernization (though it's possible that Akagi was modernized at Yokosuka. I can;t recall.)

Here is a photo of what was the likely dock for Yamato (BTW, today the dock no longer exists. There is a warehouse on the site, I believe.)

Anyhow, Spurr in "Glorious Way to Die" recalls that what started his interest in Yamato was arriving at Kure as a member of the British Navy in the Fall of 1945, and being amazed seeing a giant drydock which was filled with midget submarines. He subsequently found out that this was the dock where Yamato was built.

So, this COULD be the dock in question:

Yamato and Shinano were built in drydocks. Musashi was built on a slipway, and was launched in the conventional fashion.

I dont have any photos of them yet. But I will post some when I have them. Im not sure if they are willing to sell parts. I asked to buy the kit unbuild and unpainted, but they refused to do that. But I could buy extra airplanes if I wanted.

I asked this over on ther main forum, but as the single reply didn't really answer my question, which of the 1/700 Mushashi's comes in her final config with the 2 rocket launchers between the main mast and funnel if at all.

Having browsed through all the scans of the instructions on Hobby Search of the various Musashi kits, I don't think any of them do. Heck, I wasn't even aware that she had them.
