Propeller shafts, the ones I am using are solid Brass, for a static model should these be painted, if what color?

They would be the same color as the rest of the lower hull (antifouling red/brown), though some people leave these as brass for the pretty.

Gig Harbor eh? I remember when I was a kid in Bremerton it was just a sleepy fishing village off the main road, such as it was. Not the Alaska Airlines Pilot ghetto or however you want to visualize it. I have a couple of friends who still live near there with a nominal GH address. Hope you guys are enjoying some sunshine!

Thoughts on good color to use for the hull anti fouling. In the very distant past I think I used a floquil rust or boxcar red, which I can't get anymore. The only hobby shop in 400 road miles is closed and shipping paints to Alaska can be a pain. Upper part of the hull will probably be acrylic Model Master Light Ghost Gray. Hull currently in gray auto lacquer primer.

All suggestions entertained, sometimes there are ways of getting these things.

I used to use the cheap rattle can primer red oxide for the bottom and primer grey for the hull from Walmart around a dollar a can. Chad

Question on props: Were all four props right handed? Clockwise rotation? I have drydock photos of the stb side but not the port.

OK: to answer my own question... From a photo of New Jersey in drydock, Garzke n Dulin: Port props turn counter clockwise, stb props clockwise! I would guess this was incorporated along with the four/five blade configuration and the skegs to reduce vibration at high speed.

Yes - it's to balance the torque that would be generated if they all turned in one direction. Same arrangement exists for 2 propellers. Ships with three props would turn easier towards one side than the other.
