Well if you can, some nice shots of the whole thing and some details how the davits are conected to the superstructure, and also if possible some details of the zone behind the boats and whaleboat. Also a pic of the boat control station would be great_ the one near the davits. Thanks!!!

The davit control station on the Starboard side is not easily accessable, verticle ladder which we had to cover to keep people from climbing. There really is not much there, a small area with a shelf about three feet off the deck. The area behind both davits is a open passage, the bulkhead to the superstructure along this passage containing numereous watertight doors and portholes. I know these ares well having scrapped each porthole frame down to bare brass and polishing the frames. The winches and boat supports are very interesting, I will get this detail for you. The wood blocks, that provide the pads for the ships boats are rotted out on the starboard side, one of my projects to repair. Port side is in very good shape.

The refueling boom and it's associated winches is rather fascinating. I will get photographs of this as well.

Was directed here from the scratchbuilding board. They said it belonged here.
I have to scratchbuild the firemain risers on the main deck as well as the refueling equipment from ww2 era Iowas.
I know the modern refueling station is quite different from the ww2 era version, but did they retain the fire main plugs on the main deck as originally equipped???
Is there any good close ups of both of these.? Ive been all over the place and cant find any photos of these items.

Shots of the starboard boat davit follow. The control station, to which I refered earlier, is for the refueing boom. Photographs of that area were included above. Notice the foundation for the former 5" mount.

Yes those are nice shots of the refueling boom....but that's not what it looked like in 1945.
Plus Im still looking for a photo of 1945 version. And was still wondering about the fire main riser/plugs.
A good shot of a fire station with its hoses etc. I don't know if they "modernized" those or not from the originals.
Do you suppose the original refueling stations and fire plugs are still aboard the N.C. in Wilmington, or the Alabama in Mobile???
Would they be the same as the Iowas in 1945??

It appears that most of the original fire mains are still on Missouri. For whatever reasons fewer areas topside are accessible on her, and the boats are still onboard, which makes clear photography of the Davits area difficult. I do notice that some of the stateside ships have had much miscellaneous equipment removed such as life jacket lockers, gratings etc.

Actually Iowa's were not the last Battleships completed, certainly Vanguard and possibly a French ship were completed postwar.
