Pontosmodel 1/350 San Antonio Class LPD-21 Detail Up Set

Not too fussed with a Pe deck, overkill ?
Mind you, the elevators will need replacing. The kit ones have moulded on grating for an earlier fit.
There's plenty to do on the kit without the need for a huge Pe deck.

do you have the kit at home? I do, and I can tell that the deck of the Enterprise is awful. the tie downs are positioned too far apart and in wrong position. It would be nice if Pontos did a full deck replacement, or at least do an Advanced set with it.

One is also possible but problem is packing and shippping.
So we should split two or more.

As for the flight lines or other markings, we are considering combination of both Masking sheet and Dry transfer for the best effective ways.

As for the Warping, Our PE materials perfectly flat..
As for the bonding, each tie down spot has 4 small holes and these holes will take a role for air vent and glue exhaust. If you have applied our Iowa stern deck PE plate you can understand what is working well.
This vast PE plate is just big Tree Bough. So Details as Elevators or other deck decorations will be Trigs and Springs for your small satisfactions.

Putting it in a separate set is good.
as for major errors to the kit. Pontos will need a new hull and island.

As the proud owner of a Pontos CV-10 set (and as someone who stares at the parts alternately excited and intimidated, but daydreaming about the finished project nonetheless), all I can say is the word on forthcoming sets - especially the Perry-class set - has me very interested and excited. Even the news regarding subjects I don't plan to build is still intriguing. Many thanks to the folks at Pontos for the fine work.

Bottom line, I'm very excited that you are doing these sets Kim. Will buy one of each for sure. I purposely have not built these kits in anticipation of your sets. The warping of the parts I'm referring too is not from you as a manufacturer. They will be perfect I'm sure and the plastic kit decks are incorrect in their marking and tie down locations. My concern is a finished kit will experience many changes in temperature over a year.

That's one problem worth thinking about. Not sure how Pe and plastic behave with temp changes when used together.
I know that Pe and resin go there separate ways when I try to move out to the garage to use the airbrush.

As long as the Pe decks are a separate item in every way then fine. I was left with an unwanted deck in the Yorktown set.
The elevators however should be in the main set (Possibly) the kit ones as mentioned are for an earlier fit.

You definitely are the best aftermarket company for 1/350 in the whole world, your sets are amazing, very good quality, and above all you listen to "us" , your future costumers. I have the IOWA set and the deck went on without a problem. The tie-downs are not good to take the role of an air vent, because you can obstruct the hole and mess all the deck. I've applied carefully PVA glue to the back of the deck, and put it on the model, the PVA glue can be washed away with water before it sets, and the curing time is long, so you can position the deck slowly.

As for PE warping due to temperature change, I don't know. On my USS Missouri a part of guardrail warped a bit during the year, but nothing serious. I think PE deck are strong enough to withstand the change, they will likely not warp

Thanks for your input, much appreciated. On my New Jersey, I mounted a rail length of about 7 straight inches of railing and it warped in temperature changes and seperated away from the hull. Now I cut my PE rails into shorter lengths for hulls with long stretches of rail.

Not only does Pontos listen but they also release a lot in a short period of time.

I love that too...I hope to see soon the O.H. Perry set because I have home the kit, so I'll buy it for sure...


It's a well know "rule" that you must glue smaller section of guard rail at the time, max 2-3 inches, but I did a mistake too putting a long strip of rail all at once...hope we learn from our mistakes

I think and sure we can reduce side effectthat you've concirned
And Enterprise is too far affair now we are concentrating on LPD and OHP nad Indianapolis.
