Just ordered the Wisconsin (1991) Pontos set. I can't wait, it looks simply amazing.

Now I don't have to try and scratch build all the Wisconsin differences. Wishing now, I hadn't sent the money on .. a GMM PE set, a Eduard PE set, and Yankee Model works replacement Turrets, lol. Oh well.

I asked this in another thread, but maybe someone here knows the answer.

I plan on painting the ship using enamels ( airbrush), and wonder if someone can recommend which color to use for the gray part of the ship ( I like to use either Model Master, or White Ensign Models Paint).

Thanks in advance,

Jake.

I know Model Master Neutral Gray is an exact FS number match for modern US Navy haze gray, though personally I prefer to use MM's Light Ghost Gray. It's just a touch lighter, and feels more correct to my eyes. (You can call it scale effect if you want. I think of it as paint that's been in the sun for a little while.)

hi kim, I'm new to modelling and.just bought the tamiya 1991 version. i searched the web for a detail pe set and found your website, and after much browsing, decide to purchase the Missouri 1991 PS-35009F1set. i then realised that the pe set is meant for the new Jersey model and not the Missouri 1991 model. i read thru the forum and some say can use and some say can't .can i get a confirmation whether can i still use the pe set on my tamiya missouri 1991 model? tks

I am very sorry that our current Iowa sets(35007-35011F1) can't applied on the Tamiya new Missouri 1991 kit completely because these sets are fitted for Tamiya New jesrsey (old or new) kit.
Especially stern deck parts may be hard.
So we will release other set for this kit. but I think within 3 month this may be hard because other scheduled...

Thank you
Kim

Hi,
We've decided to release some plus parts for Missouri and Wisconsin.
This photo shows some resin parts including the Doms and some more PE.
Wisconsin has already similar PE parts at our set but resin parts will be released separately.
As for the NJ or Iowa, this plus part will not be released.

Thank you
Kim

Kim,

I have the Wisconsin (1991) Pontos kit now. Is there a way those of us who bought this set early, can get the plus parts?

Those of us who bought the set, I would hope, will not be punished, by not being able to get these parts.

If nothing else, can we maybe buy these parts as a separate purchase ( if we have to purchase them, maybe at a reduced price, since we already purchased the original set .. with a proof of purchase, of course)?

Thank you in advance, for any help you can give us .. early adopters. -)

Now Missouri and Wiscosin Extra parts are in our hand.
These will be sold separately from our set 35009F1/35011F1 and 35010F1.
Now waiting some small manual and printing.

Thank you
Kim

I hate digging up an older thread, but is the WWII era set for the Iowas still on track? I have one of these sitting in the stash that I'm dying to build.

Yep I've fully forgot we had this thread..

And sorry 1/200 WWII Missouri cut in this 1/350 seat same as Bismarck case.
But I promise we will release 1/350 within a year with 1/350 Bismarck.
Thank you
Kim

Hello Kim.

If I may put in my 2 cents worth, I would not be bothering with a 1/350 Bismarck set when there are already numerous sets out there. There are hundreds of other kits out there crying out for good detail sets from Pontos, for example the Fujimi 1/350 IJN Haruna, Hasegawa 1/350 IJN Mutsu, the list goes on and on forever. Even the Revell 1/350 Tirpitz needs a good Detail Up set.

Cheers
Warren

I don't mind and don't know what is on the market or not.
We make our plan to try to release all the ships wished by our customers as posible.
And 1/350 Revell Tirpitz will come together with Bis.

Thank you
Kim

And then there's the Scharnhorst. Is that on the list anywhere? Because I'm eager to build it but continue to hold out for a Pontos set.

I don't know why this Iowa class thread went to our annual plan.
Anyway following items are collected.

The order of queue can't be determined now.

1/200 : Arizona - Missouri - Hornet. (Fixed the order)
1/450 IJN Yamato
1/350 :
FFG OLP class
HMS Belfast
Bismarck/Tirpitz(Revell)
WWII Iowa Class(Tamiya)
IJN Kongo Class(F,A)
North Carolina Class
South Dakoda Class
Nagato(H)
USS DDG A.B. Class including JMSDF (Trumpeter)
Hood
Richelieu
RN Litorio Class
Scharnhorst
LHD
CVN-65

All above were determined to be released...

Thank you
Kim

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread. The constant questions about what's next must get irritating but they're really a tremendous compliment.

I got the Wisconsin set in recently and am very impressed overall. I have not started installing the set yet. BUT! I noticed one issue and am wondering if anyone else or PONTOS had noticed. The bridge windows are way to short. Like one whole window to short. PONTOS installation photos confirm this as well. Just look for yourselves. I am going to scrap these parts and figure something else out. How did they not see this? I am only complaining mildly here but how did this make it out of quality control?
