Where are you finding the barrels?

Also: NICE rigging. How long did that take?

NNT do the 12 inch gun barrels, They are the only company doing 12 inch british barrels same as 13.5, 6 and 8 inch
have some very cool masts and yards as well. Worth a look and the problem with my order was at my end not NNT'S so don't hold that against them.

Hard to put a time on the rigging, I can only do a few hours a day then I get a head ache and I go cross eyed trying to see the thread.

Evening all, well after being very kindly sent some high res images of Australia and New Zealand showing some of the details, I've been doing my best to add some basic representation around the structures, still got more to do on the forward 2 but the stern area is pretty much done. I was trying to use sprue for the wires between the mast and stern but I couldn't get it fine enough. How it looks now isn't perfect or accurate but I like it.

More to come soon
Thanks for looking

Brilliant and complex work on that rigging. I've tried to attached stretched sprue with little more than frustration. This ship is looking fantastic.

There may not be many of you, but you sure produce some exceptional work.

I find the early battle-cruisers just quirky enough to be very appealing and your rendition, particularly the rigging, is fabulous. Your work on the aft superstructure is simply awesome. Looking forward to seeing more.

Best regards,

Mac

Very nice. What colors did you use on the hull and on the upper decks?

Thanks fella's :) I'm a little blown away with all the comments on the rigging, as long as we are all clear its not very accurate :) . I have to admit though I am pretty impressed with myself with those boat davits. I was a bit worried how I was going to go with those.
I've used Life Colour Ocean Grey for the sides and the deck was a combination of sand yellow then drybrushed brown (bit to much though) then Citadel paints Seraphim Sepia Shade, which pretty much acts as a wood coloured stain. The more coats you add the darker the effect

Hopefully more soon :)
Cheers Callum

Well with some study of the photos I was sent, I've made a few changes and added a couple of things I missed like a couple of 4inch guns on the aft structure. I've circled roughly where its meant to be in the pic below
Image

So I've fixed this to resemble the postion, I missed the arrow pointing this out in the instructions.

Image

Still have to touch up etc but they are there

I've also stripped the boats and derricks off the centre structure as it was all a bit messy how it was, but I think I got a better understanding of the area now. but more of that later
Moving to the front I've removed some of the rigging off the lower yard to a better position it at the bottom.
How it looked before

how it looks now

So all a bit rough around the edges and the camera flash really shows it :) but I hope you like it
and once again a thousand thankyou for the photo's if you read this
Cheers Callum

Turned out damn nice if I do say so myself. Going to put it on any type of water scene?

Thanks, she'll go into a pre WW1 at sea scene with HP's HMAS Sydney and HMAS Yarra an early Australian Destroyer. This will be scratch built mostly and will be an interesting exersize.

Well a splash of colour on a grey surface is not a bad thing, In that scale it maybe very difficult to do. 'The colours smaller in size' :cool_1: , thats the only thing I can add.

But again its not a bad looking rep of the flag locker's.

Cheers Capt-P :cool_2:

Thanks Capt P, I'll have another crack at the colour whats there is from the tip of a toothpick, if the second attempt doesn't work I had the idea of painting a bit of masking tape to look like a canvas cover across the front to protect the flags from the weather (came to me while driving to work this morning) I think I may actually just do that

Good to see trhe model reaching fruition!

Good to see the railings and stanchions being differentiated in colour

BUT... whose rails did you use-?
- they look a little heavy on the horizontal cables

I use the GMM Gold Plus and the WEM ULTRA fine

I colour them on the fret using a permanent marker --with the fret laid on printer paper to absorb any excess so as to keep it thin and light

Once installed I then paint the stanchions in situ and touch up the rails and a moist drybrush with a light to mid- grey wash stroking downwards...

the idea being to have the top surfaces lighetr thatn the underside which is in shadow--the plan is to make the horizontals appear even thinner
