... small update.
I just upgraded 25mm guns:


PitRoad released very simplified closed stations of 25mm guns and I decided to detalized them:




and stations ready:





I will add railings and "calibrate" the barrels a bit and it's done


that's my approach to open triple 25s:

The barrels will be a bit adjusted to be straight before mounted on ship....

Wow, is all I can say. Did you design this PE set and deck on your own?

Yes. For every project I'm doing special PE set. Since for Chitose there is no dedicated one I designed almost all parts exept very few generics parts - used from PE suppliers.

Today was important day. Shipyard has installed the deck!

I've always liked the simplicity of these carriers I don't know if it was practical but it was somewhat cool to see the bridge in the hangar just like the Ryujo class, Awesome job so far

It greatly restricted visibility for the Helm, Captain & Bridge Crew making close harbor maneuvering more difficult. Also the lack of an Island restricts lookout positions (which need to be near the bridge/Captain to pass on warnings quickly) and aircraft deck controllers (basically traffic controllers for the aircraft) have no overview of the deck. (not to mention inconvenient signal/radar/radio masts) but mostly (for a conventional carrier) a lack of position for a funnel - the side funnel puts the hot gasses to the side of the ship below flight-deck level - they can still blow up & over into the path of landing aircraft - a vertical funnel put these gasses above the flight/landing path & rising. but true "flattops" do have an aesthetic appeal - I mostly like these for the light carrier concept. With modern (heavy) jet aircraft they were not practical (tough to land an F-14 on the Chitoose) but the F-18 may be able to operate from one & certainly the Harrier & the new F-35 JSF VTOL model.
(shhh... don't tell anyone...the Navy Carrier Admirals don't want anyone to know that Super Carriers are obsolete )
