Hello everyone.

I gather in this unique post advanced work 2 months on a new diorama. I attacked the MULBERRY A port that was installed in front of the beach of Omaha Beach.

I will make two dio:
• The first representative of a dock or ship LST treated like LCM, LCI (L).
• And a second representing a dock (with multiple element "Löbnitz") for unloading cargo and in the background a liberty being unloaded onto barges Rhino.
Attached the test implementation of the various elements and ship photos.
First the Whale gateways served as building blocks for the implementation of the floating road from the docks Löbnitz and beach.
Below is the introduction of two floating docks. Perpendicular to the ship for unloading from the front. Parallel to the dock for ships to unload the cargo on top of the ship.

I started working on the construction LST. Mainly on the back castle.
As you can see from the following three pictures the rear castle and little detail, with bubbles and in addition the top is broken.

So I decided to do it again. I searched for pictures on Navsource.org. For details, I am greatly helped by the LST by Pierre Marchal http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gall.../pm-index.html

From a good doc and a super model as an example, has not stopped me many times to repeat the same elements. As this was the first time for me to make from scratch, I experimented with cardboard, plastic card, etc.. To fall back to the plastic card 0.4mm thick. At least I've redone baths 4-5 times. To see me they were too big to 1.5 mm.

I'm not a fan of the reproduced exactly in the same reality. As long as it is clean and looks like his photos. This is me. I take slight liberties.

I arrived at the end of most of the work on the LST. I finished the front and bathtubs for directors shooting front and rear 40mm. LS is finished and by the way, I redid the inside of the front doors.

I have not done in perfect accuracy. Purists will certainly find fault. Anyway I did the best possible.
I spent my day trimming the LSM. With a brief inventory of usable parts. The balance is that I do like the LST. Repeat most parts keeping the castle and the two front doors undergoing big changes.

LST after I finished the LSM. Like the previous ship, I have all redone. There was nothing salvageable. With the study of pictures and plan I got this result.

Someone kindly sent photos of the model of the LST exposed at the Naval Museum in Washington me. I took the opportunity to fill in the details on the central part of the LST.
Image

I have a vacuum on the other three ships. The thicknesses of the baths and other elements were in thickness compared to the other two ships and it was too much screaming at the sight. I left the winches, but they will disappear because I'll do it again.

Image

Deburring and preparation of vehicles at all from Arsenal. The products of Arsenal also used as a base to rebuild the LST and LSM.

Good day to all.

Cordially.

WOW that is some very impressive work, fantastic detail that you've done. Did you scratch build the docks and the piers for the port or are they a kit, I've not seen them before, again really fantastic work, I'll be following this build with much interest.

Very nice work. However I don't think the LSM was used in Europe.

Hello,

Thank you Niall. I checked Navsource. The LSM 558, none was assigned to the Europe operating theater. I need to find another idea to replace the Dio.

Friendly.
Alain.

Hello everyone .

I finally finished the Rhinoferry . The production was more complicated than expected .

These are made of steel with a standard anti- skid texture with dimensions as 1.523 mx 1.523 mx 2.132 m. Or 1/350 4.35 x 4.35 x 6.09 mm.

The boxes were assembled base ( a mechanical fastening system and a higher screening assembled by bolts and welding) on site as needed . The same boxes were used either to make Rhino barges or docks of all types.

I noticed in the pictures that there are grooves on the sides of the boxes so I used an Evergreen grooved plate with a 0.5 mm. I sanded before use the plate to alleviate most of the grooves.

The hardest was to the upper framing barges. For this I used a section of Evergreen 0.5x0.25 . Then once in place I sanded dithering in order to leave a small thickness .

For more information I recommend the attached link . http://omahabeach.mulberry.free.fr/index.htm

Okay now up to the photos :

I will continue the project by the various LCI 3 in number.
Good day to all.

Gorgeous Rhino Ferries, Alain! I love them!

Your work on the outboard motors, the enclosed Coxwain helms and detailed ramps is most impressive!

Hi, I tried to post a couple of great LST pixs but the file is too big they keep telling me. How do I get the pix down to an acceptable size?

Hi everyone,

I come to ask for help on the colors (Reference U.S. NAVY) of paint to use for ships dio in progress.

After multiple hours of searching the web, I'm in a big blur.

The museum of landing all ships are gray while the color photos of the D-Day ships have a blue tint. And I'm lost.

In your opinion what colors to use for the hull and decks?

For the vertical parts, I hesitate between Ocean gray 5O, Deck Blue 20 B and Navy Blue 5N.

For bridges I have no idea.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Friendly.

Alain.

Night wearing board. I opted for the measure 22.

Bottom of the vertical surface (mainly Navy blue hull 5N
Top of the vertical surface Haze Gray 5H
And horizontal surface e, Deck Blue 20B

With the thinned color 27%.

A +
Alain.

Hello to all.

I completed the first of LCI. He gave me a lot of problems because I mainly worked on the basis of photographs. Below the main photo I used (Source Navsource).
Image

I just redone except the resin shell. I took the opportunity to put the island at the right height for a U.S. LCI and I represented additions armor plates made of hard. In the photos, it is clear that the shield was added after the release of LCI arsenal and very rough.
