Hi everybody I have been looking at your forum for a long time and I'm amazed at the talent of you guys on here outstanding really enjoy looking at all these beautiful models, I have posted a few comments over time on here but really not much as I'm on a couple of other forums with my builds and you don't want the balance of model building being taken over by forums. I had started this build with plank on frame construction back in November 2011 I have taken a year off her to build another project that is almost finished so I have put Garibaldi back on the work bench to re kindle the fire and start working on her again! as I looked through my photos of her that I have collected I noticed that I don't have any photos of her Port and Starboard walkways on the side of the ship, and this is part of the reason I have put my build up on the forum is hoping that one of you guys might have photos of her or someone you know may have any help would be awesome. I will try and post some pictures of my build as this is my first time posting pics on here :heh: this is also my first Scratch built ship all my others are semi Kits. Scott

Cheers Bruce I was not sure if my pictures would work but it was easy so here it goes, as Bruce said I will post a couple of the AWD that took me away from Garibaldi and then back to the construction photos. Scott

Thank you very much Dave for your kind words and with the last build of HMAS Sydney I can see that to do justice to Garibaldi she will take a while to finish! but thats the journey and the fun of building. Here are some more pictures of Garibaldi, sorry about loading so many pics but I just wanted to get you guys up to speed with my build and if anyone has any detailed photos of her new configuration as I've only got her plans as she was built not refitted that would be really appreciated. Scott

Well that is it so far. I did say that this is my first scratch built ship but I did forget to say that one of my friends in my club Gunter helped me with getting the plans right as this is 1/72 and the plans did not have the right amount of frames to do the job so Gunter had drawn the missing ones for me and also built a smaller model out of cardboard to show me how all the frames would go together and some other hard sections of Garibaldi's curves went around her bow and forward areas.

Top Bloke and with out Gunter's guidance I would not have done Garibaldi. Thanks Gunter

That's one a top notch job! Apart from being a cool ship (the Original version), it's a nice size and a sharp build! I was looking more into the San Giusto class LHD since that's an even more manageable size, but Garibaldi does look better than those.

Looking forward to more. Are you planning to put more working features in it, like elevators, radars etc. ?

Awesome ship, and work, I hope my projects turn out as good when I get back to funing forward on them. Im waiting on a 3D printer and a Lathe. In the mean time im building the workshop to get it out of my living room and writing a book about the Z plan ship designs so I'm doing alot of drafting.

Smooth sailing Haratio.

Hi Neptune thanks for having a look at my Garibaldi and yes I will have working features including the forward and rear elevators, Radars, gun turrets and lights.
Hello Capitão Norbert I'm glad you like Garibaldi and the Number Plate, The plate was a gift from my Brother when he went to Brasil for a holiday and he loved Brasil that much that he did not want to return home.
Thanks Kevin as I said this is all new to me as I always build semi kits and it was one of my club members Bruce with USS Longbeach that pushed me in the right directionand if I can do it anyone can.
Haratio fales thank you for your kind words and I'm very jealous of your 3D printer! very cool. I look forward to more of your build and best wishes for your book.
Andrew how are you? It was outstanding to meet you at the IFR in Sydney! so nice to put a face with the name. Lol it was a shame that the russians pulled out. It really was a fantastic weekend, How's your Slava going? Regards Scott

Mick I do have some progress on Garibaldi and yes them Kids are keeping me busy and my youngest is giving me less sleep then I'd really like! But that's cool it will not be for long (I hope). I had tried some motors in Garibaldi with not much luck she was way to slow and took a long time to take off from a standing start. So I looked at a mates vessel USS Longbeach and she runs 900 BB Graupners and her speed and exceleration was great so I went on a hunt for these motors and they are really hard to buy! but after a lot of web searching I tracked some down. Well I have had these motors for a long time and now that she is on the build table it was time to fit and wire up her new ESC's ready for a test sail, this is also the first time that I have had ESC's with no BEC so I had to fit one of those too! It's not a lot of progress but my time in the shed has been cut right down and with her bench tests I think I'm going to be happy with her water test. I hope to have a sail test this week crossing fingers!
