Deck awning for battleships.

Does anyone have any advice on how to make some purty deck awning on a battleship?

I'm debating using Frank Spahr's method detailed here: http://www.modelwarships.com/reviews/sh ... ildup.html

Any other tips?

The planned scale is 1/700, if that helps.

Jim B uses the white glue method for his awnings - just stretch some thinned white glue across the frame, ensuring that your toothpick with the glue on it creates at least a triangle (if not another rectangle) of glue as you move the toothpick across the frame.

You might try to use teflon tape. I have some great experience with it for various covers. It's thin and easy to adjust. Drawback is once warped or kinked hard to restore flat...

I just read Frank Spahr's use of cigarette papers. Hmmm...a new use for Easy Widers!

I would try Timmy C's suggestion only substituting Micro Glaze (Micro-Mark) for the white glue. Same toothpick method - at 1/700 this isn't a great distance to cover. My 1:200 NEW JERSEY would be an entirely different scenario.
