Thanks a bunch, fellow modelers!!
......but as for the most detailed carrier I think first place goes to DWD a.k.a. Doug with his Enterprise. That guy is nucking futs!....
I appreciate the fact that I am considered in need of a mental health exam....maybe we can go together, because I don't believe you are any less sane with all the detail you have added to your Nimitz as well.
As far as the Air Wing and island go, working on the Air Wing a little at a time and then taking a break to work on the island is an excellent idea, or you may really end up needing some professional mental health help!!
40-60 aircraft is a ton of repetitive work to complete and much tenacity will be needed. Good luck Laci. Make sure you are checking in with us here so we can make sure you're ok. You got me to thinking how many aircraft I will be adding to mine and I came up with 63 aircraft total............guess we better schedule that padded room and straight jacket appointment after all........

It is great that we are looking out for each other's mental health, but I think it's the perfect "blind leading blind " situation here: we are all effing insane!
Well here is my first bit, I think I made it out sane, but these birds aren't finished yet, and even if they were, it's only 2 out of the 52!!!!
I finished most of the 2 MH-53-s I am planning on staging as a couple of visitors on my carrier (or to use their gigantic size to cover up mistakes on the helicopter landing spots on the angle deck. ( I forgot which one

)
About these choppers:
They are Bronco, and are very excellent kits. I am seriously considering buying 6 or 8 of these and convert them into CH-53E-s for my Wasp. They are the BEST S-65-s in this scale. The widows are actually pretty clear -the ones on the sides are perfect see-thru! But only the fuselage pieces (halves and the nose piece) are made of clear plastic, the rest is grey. These guys provide PE as well!!!!
About these: some parts are better off being built using copper instead. While we get the main rotor in both plastic and PE , the tail rotor only comes in plastic, and for the scale it's pretty thick. When I am done with the main rotor , I will do a bit of writing about that too.
The decals are awesome for the most part: they are thin, sharp, and colored right! BUT: they are for only one aircraft: number 556....This is the smaller problem. The horsehead is only printed the same way for both sides , so for the port side it would be facing backwards.... I fixed it by installing this decal flipped over-so the white side showing towards us, and later filled it in with grey. For the second chopper I used numbers from separate decal set (I forgot I had)
I opened the side door on both choppers, and the ramp on one of them. I had to fabricate a rear ramp for this, for the one in the kit is for the minesweeping set-up.

make sure to paint the joining surfaces of the nose piece black before attaching it to the fuselage. I only did this on the second helicopter. Without this the `windows`will look like a white magnifying glass...But painted black it gives them model a more realistic look. You might even notice this difference on the photos.
Surprisingly these choppers sit on their wheels without any weight needed in the nose.
All the other changes/modifications are listed on the photos below. I think today's A.D.D.-infected society will appreciate those more (including me

), rather than reading all this B.S.
I am pretty happy with the way they look, and I gotta say, Blake's (Nwarty) Nimitz airwing highly motivated me in the making of these tiny jewels.
Cheers: Laci
