Late last year I approached Phil R via PM if he would be willing to take on a project for me, namely construct the 1:350 Type 23 model of HMS Monmouth, or The Black Duke, as I had served aboard her from 2005 to 2009.

Yesterday I received the finished product and I was absolutely thrilled with the result. The detail is fantastic from the definition of the small hatches to the black flag that only Monmouth is allowed to fly, not to mention the seascape that adds a great sense of motion. His time and efforts are very much appreciated.

I really would recommend Phil to anyone who wanted to have a commissioned model made, and if they ever bring out a 1:350 Type 22 Batch 3 he would definitely be my 'go to' guy.

I'd like to thank Tin Can Gunner for a good, (no, make that a great) trade. He has an interesting selection of kits for sale (go see 'em in the Trader section) , we communicated a lot, the prices were excellent (I bought several), they were packed very well and shipped fast.
