Unsticking plastic glue

Post by SimonK »

I screwed up badly and incorrectly made up the guns of Heller's Victory. Is there an easy, or indeed anyway, of unsticking the Revel Contacta Professional glue so that I can start again? For instance, turps, water or maybe a quick splash of acetone.

If the bond is proper (plastic welded to plastic) I suspect there is not much you can do except to physically separate the parts with a hobby knife. Have you tried the freezer? Placing parts in the freezer may make the glue and glue bonds brittle enough to separate...

I've had my best luck separating parts with the X-ACTO #17 or #18 blades.

Many thanks Harq. I'll stick them in the freezer and see what happens.
