I suddenly need a support ship for my IJN Solomon's fleet.

I wonder what support vessels were at Rabaul or Truk for the support of the Solomons Campaign?

The 1/700 JMSDF DD-151 Asagiri and the 1/700 1941 version of the USS Tennessee, both by Pit-Road with a Nov 2015 release date. I'm assuming the Tennessee will be released as a Trumpeter kit as well.

I thought Pit-road was merely Trumpeter's distributor in Japan? So aren't they merely just Trumpeter kits in Pit-road packaging?

If that is the case, it sure explains a lot... And it gives me a means of simplifying searches and purchases.

I honestly dont know if she was used in the Solomon's campaign , but as i read about this ship was first designed and constructed just to transport the main gun for the Yamato class battleship from the kure arsenal to the shipyard where this battleship were built .
Once they decided to not build any more ship of that class they convert the Kashino in ammunition ship in June '1942 , she was sunked north of Taiwan in September of 1942.

Pit Road is NOT simply Trumpeter's distributor in Japan. Pitroad/Skywave has and continues to produce kits on their own ... mostly of Japanese subjects WWII and post-WWII. Pitroad has partnered with Trumpeter on several subjects where Pitroad supplies the research (and assumed review of the accuracy) of several kits ... mostly 1/700 scale and a few 1/350 scale. In general the dual Trumpeter-Pitroad kits are better in accuracy and quality than strictly Trumpeter "whatever" ship kits.

It appears that Pitroad has most of their kits molded in China for the lower cost.

Unfortunately no sprue shots yet. Dragon didn't specify "all new-tooled", so it's unknown if they corrected several minor errors and omissions on the original Scharnhorst..

If they have new tooling, then it would seem strange that they would NOT also release it in 1/700, since all they need to do is "Select All," and then "Scale X/Y/Z (.5)" to get a 1/700 kit from a 1/350.

Well, given a few minor tweaks that would be needed to things like masts, or other thin parts that might need to have a slightly out-of-scale thickness to make them able to stand up to the small size of 1/700.

I don't recall Ry?j? from the anime. Nice looking kit, too (I have not yet begun to collect many Carriers - I have a few in my collection from my great scoop of about 60 kits from a local hobby shop). She is a cute one, though.

The Showcase V-class was announced around a year or so ago, and I've had it on the list since. It's good to see progress on it, as it has been delayed quite a bit.

Trumpeter updated her site: 1/700 Uss California 1941 guise for december 2015.
Could be the reboxed 1941 Tennessee but I am not sure for as the forward tower seems to be kind of different at quick glance.

Cybermodeler has her also listed as kit no. 5783. This is the same kit number listed on Stevens a while ago then removed.
