Thickening PE figures question

Well I'm now going to be trying out that technique to thicken PE figures. And while it doesn't seem difficult, I'm wondering if it would work with Plaster of Paris as I can't find any baking soda in the house.

Why don't you just use little dabs of white glue?

I'm trying to go after that technique that Marijn Van Gils did in his thread and now explained in the book being published by AK. Or is it Mig...

I didn't try it with plaster of Paris, but chances are good it will work too. Backing soda can be found easily in about every supermarket though, and isn't expensive.

The advantage of the technique over dabs of white glue is that it tickens much more and instantly. White glue shrinks while drying, so to get the figures thickened sufficiently, you need to apply multiple layers, which takes more time. White glue can work perfectly too, but most builders only apply one layer, resulting in slightly-less-flat but still too flat PE figures. Only my opinion of course!

The book is published by AK Interactive BTW. I redid the step-by-steps regarding the figures for the book to make them as clear as I could. But if you're cheap or in a hurry, you'll find all relevant info in my threads on this forum too.

Woo-hoo! I was hoping you'd reply Marijn. Unfortunately I've looked wherever the baking soda would be found to no avail. I'll try the same plaster and see what happens. Hey, if it works, we'll both learn something new.

And I will be picking up the book when I find it in one of the shops I go to.
