You can get a scan of it here: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10094293

But you might want to use the one at the top of page 7 of this thread instead, which is made by forum users Abram Joslin and Antonio Bonomi, and I trust those two more than Trumpeter to get the pattern correct.

Yes, Trumpeter instructions = bad.

I knew that Trumpeter's guide isn't correct, but I need a clear camo pattern of the front and rear sides of the bridge and superstructures and turrets.

Regards,
Aop.

Can anybody help me with the graf spee's camo scheme on the superstructure parts. I need a clear picture of the color pattern and scheme.

Regards,
Aop.

Hi. I'm building Trumpeter 1/700 1937 Graf Spee. I would like to add the Spanish patrol neutrality stripes on the turrets for a bit of color. I have a couple of clear shots of her sisters with the stripes on the forward part of the main turrets, but only a partial shot of Graf Spee with what looks like the stripes either covering the entire horizontal surface of the turret roof, or only aft of the turret range finders. I've checked my available resources and Google image search and can't find anything better than that. Can anyone elaborate?

Thanks! I just found this http://www.deutschland-class.dk/admiral ... atrol.html But the color illustrations are much more helpful! The 1938 Spanish patrol scheme looks easier to do! :wave_1:

Thanks all:)
Looks like I may have to try to copy the pattern from the Montevideo photographs. At least, it would be of great help if anyone who has the trumpeter's 1939 colour pattern can scan it and post for me here. Incorrect scheme is still better than none. :thanks:

Aop.

Are there any 1/350 plans available of the Admiral Scheer with the rebuilt bridge/funnel? I want to convert the Trumpeter Graff Spee into her.
Just wondering if you ever got an answer, I am looking for plans of Scheer 1940 as well?

Well I too have plans about building a reconstructed Scheer, and I found the plans disappointing. On the drawings of Breyer, Koop&Schmolkeand Monografie Morskie the after deckhouse (the one behind the funnel) is too wide and long - you can check it against an overhead photograph made by RAF reconnasaince aircraft in 1942. The bridge is also inaccurate.

The best drawings I found so far are in the book of John Asmussen&Eric Leon about german naval camouflage - these match the photos and are quite detalied. No scale is given but it can be used by measuring details of known dimensions - for example waterline or main gun barrels.

Some of the problems mentioned above:

1. The after superstructure is in fact narrow, not wide (black arrows), it is shorter than depicted in the drawing and there is a piece of open deck between it and the funnel base (red arrow). A minor but interesting point that the flakvierling et the end of tghe forecastle deck is not in the midline but slightly to starboard (yellow arrow)

2. The bridge was cut down at the level marked by the black arrow but below the that the front face was unaltered (no overhang created) . The tubular mast is too wide in the drawing and it should be situated further aft (blue arrow) as only half of it was incorporated in the bridge structure (see pohoto below).

So I am building Academy's Spee and after building up the 150's, I was not happy with the amount of detail inside the enclosure. With them being open, this lack of detail is painfully obvious. Rather than add detail, I decided to close them based on some images from Kagero's 3D book that hint at doors on them. I have also read somewhere online that the Spee had metal doors fitted to the back of her 150's but have had a terrible time finding any definitive pics. Can anyone confirm that these doors existed or were they simply open/canvas covered?

Interestingly, from the great photo that Peppe posted it looks like the rear of the after 150mm gun is different from the one in front of it. It seems to have a cut-out and possibly no doors, or maybe in a different location?

I agree, it is extremely difficult to make out any type of door structure on the 150 to the right. The only similarity I can even find in the area is the shadows I have circled in red which might be some kind of latch to hold the doors open?

I am deep into a build of the Academy kit and I think I am becoming obsessed with the missing or incorrect details it has. The biggest disappointment is the mast configurations which isn't even remotely close! I will say though that the etch in the premium kit is a pleasure to work with.

Can someone that's converted the 1/350 Graf Spee to 1937 please share a photo of how the stack platform needs to be modified. From what I'm understanding, I need to cut off the extended platform in front of the two search lights and round the corners.

Second question, since WEM was bought out by Toms, has anyone else purchased the Graf Spee PE set and not had instructions included? I opened my set Friday night and had two nice sheets of PE but no instructions. Sent a email to the contact at tomsmodelworks website but it's the weekend so I imagine I won't receive a reply until sometime during the week.

Jon
