No warping , only a broken rear bow plane but the break is clear , easy to repair

Boris packaging is OK , I think the problem come from french customers

I had last month a lot of exchanges with Boris , no pb to order now , I took a second order this week for my Christmas :cool_2:

Now I'm going to think about crawler in 1/350 .I'm not satisfied about my display in this scale .

Is Patman continued his crawler ?

The Golf kit is listed in the HB 2016 catalog on page 53:
http://tieba.baidu.com/p/4193056672
So far, that Golf kit has been vapor wear for the past 3 years… Will next year be any different??

I also did not see any new submarine releases scheduled for this year. All of the kits are, I believe, on the market already, except for the Golf.

Despy,

Some boats were 170 m while others were 173 m. The difference entirely depends on the length of the flat projection between the aft planes (what we used to call a "beaver tail" when Naval Intelligence thought it was a control surface). I wouldn't be troubled with slight issues in length when there are far more significant issues with the Hobby Boss kit, which you mentioned in your comment. I would recommend the Mikro-Mir Typhoon, which has serious problems in terms of joining the hull together, but is very accurate. Here are some very accurate plans that you can reference:

Also, if you haven't seen it, this album I made a while ago provides some good photos for model-making:

Very nice line drawings! Wouldn't a 1/200 scale kit be great.

Hello folks,
Has anyone done a comparison between the Hobby Boss and Bronco models 1/350 Borei class models? I was looking to build one and am wondering which of the two is most correct compared to the real article.

Thanks and best regards,
Maarten

I believe this may be the deployed launcher for an R13, though it may be for an R-11. The boat may be a Golf class. Hoping someone can confirm the type of launcher and, if it is for R13, if it would be a similar layout for an early Hotel. A lot of "if's" and "may be's" but I'm hopeful this could be the basis for some scratch modification to Zvezda's Hotel. Also, if anyone has other information on just what a Hotel in surface launch configuration looked like, I'd like to learn of it.

Thanks in advance

Doing a reverse image search, it seems that the photo is of the D-2 launch system which corresponds to the R-13.

Here are some Russian forum threads for the Golf and Hotel where you can find lots of photos, although there is only one photo of a Hotel launching a missile that I'm aware of on those forums.

Vepr is correct, that is definitely the D-2 launch system with an R-13 missile (~350 nm range) on a Project 629 (Golf I) submarine. The nuclear powered Hotel I (Project 658) class used exactly the same launch system. The D-2/R-13 required surfacing to launch, and an elevator system raised the launcher up to the top of the sail, stabilized by the arms encircling the missile. The later D-4 with the R-21 (750 nm range) on the Project 629A and 658M was launched from 40-50 meters underwater. I have cross sectional diagrams of both the D-2 (R-13) and underwater capable D-4 (R-21) launch systems.

Tom,

I've found this plan on the second site which Vepr provided above. I suspect it may be the system in question, the D2. Can you confirm that and also, if the cross-sectional you have is of greater detail could you share it? Thank you

That's the D-2 system. The original Pr. 658 Hotel I had this as built. The Pr. 658M Hotel II had the D-4 system which didn't have the elevator as it was an underwater launch system. You can easily distinguish between Hotel I and II from the outside because the Hotel I has a "bumpy" set of missile tube doors. They are completely flat on the Hotel II.

Mike,
Interesting diagram in that the missile looks to be an early guess. The R-13 does not have a step near the top. Yes, I have very high resolution diagrams that are much larger than can be posted on this site. For technical reasons, diagrams on this site must be relatively small. I have on occasion had to drastically attempt to reduce diagrams of 4-6 Mb down to the roughly 200 Kb size limit for posting here. I have spent quite a bit of time in the past adjusting sizes, and still not been able to post items, so I no longer even try. Contact me off line and I can send you directly both Golf and Golf II diagrams with the R-13 and R-21 missiles.

Tom, I'm pretty sure I've suggested this before, but have you tried Method 2 for posting photos? viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1261#p273960

Mike Powell-
Please send me your correct email address. I just spent a frustrating 20 minutes trying to send you multiple files that bounce back to me.
I attempted to correct it but CoxNet assures me you don't exist in their network.

You know Tom, you could use an image hosting site like imgur and that way all of us can see the diagrams. I for one would be interested in seeing them.
