Hi Folks,

this is my second try of posting a finished modell myself - the first one (a few years ago) went up the spout and I after that sent my postings to Jim who was so kind to pass them on for showing - I hope this one will work.

The Hapag Lloyd CMS Colombo Express is the first modell I've finished this year - the vessel itself went straight forward with the usual amount of addings and scratching. The containers however nearly drove me mad, but I'm quite pleased with the final results. I used some resin containers which are on the market, but wasn't very pleased with them- some of the blocks were totaly out of shape. I also used the decal set offered and approx. 4 Metres of reiling - not much of it visable, because they are mostly between the container stacks - however nice to know they are there - I've also added a few pics of the building:

I used an aquarium as display case which is excellent from my point of view - a DIY store here sells them in various sizes from just under € 10,00 upwards - I think they are fantastic for displaying modell ships.

and here come a few pics of the building stadiums:

Hope you like her.

A whole container full of Tamiya-Kits? Must be expensive in real life... ;) Well done, looks good with all the enhancements.

I have no desire to build a 1/700 kit with PE,with the exception of this one.If I ever get to it,I hope the results are half as fantastic as this. :thumbs_up_1:

Great job. Those containers must have taken a long time with all those decals. Did you cut the hull or does this kit give a waterline option? Also what is this thing like 18-1/2 inches or like close to 500mm long?
Paul

Very nice! I am wondering if anyone knows the built dimensions of the Colombo? I know the length, but what about width and height?

Her beam is 42.94m, which is 6.13cm in 1/700 scale. The height "from keel to superstructure" is 60.5m, or 8.64cm in 1/700 scale.

Figures for the original vessel taken from the description on the Revell instructions.
