Sorry for my belated reply. The model in question is a Scharnhorst, not a Bismarck. Apart from that, no boot-topping had been thinned down. On Bismarck, the dark grey bow and stern panels, the false waves, and the b/w stripes were "bleeding" about half way down into the boot-topping. In between it was the same width as ordered by the KM paint regulation, and this is visible on wreck photos.pascalemod wrote:Hey, this boot topping bit.. The fat boot topping was only applicable to the ship on the trials, so 1940s. After that it weas thinned down in half I believe and, say during the Denmark straight or in Norway before that it was thinner. At least thats what I gathered following the well known bismarck drawings webpage. Am I wrong? Are you building the full gray early version?
Happy modelling ~ Olaf!
