Is Aoshima likely to ever re-issue their 1933 Nagato kit? Seems to be out of stock in the usual places (not even an option to be added to a mailing list for re-stock on HobbySearch) and eBay prices for it are a bit ridiculous.

Probably, though there's no way to say when. Their website says they are re-issuing the 1927 version in May.

Yup, just got an e-mail from HS to reserve that. Which is annoying because I just spent a lot of money there on an order where they told me it was out of stock so I got something else, only to be told within a week that it will be back! Anyway I know the differences are small and could be scratch built, but the 1933 is the one I really want.

Hello all
I intend to make the Fujimi model No. 401034 in the 1/700 scale, namely the IJN Mutsu. I made a few 1/350 Japanese ships (Musashi, Takao, Ise, Nagato, Fuso). However, for me, all ships of the Empire of Japan have one thing in common: they cause that after the first look you make a man, the next and the next and next, until you can not stand it and you are running for the model ... They just have "something" that is difficult to name and what makes you come back to them and come back ...
Therefore, if the health of an old man and finance allow me to do more IJN models. I can not afford to buy PE for valorization, that's why my hot request for all materials, photos, drawings of this ship. The bigger the number of materials, the more it will allow me to do some details on my own, without having to buy PE.
Regards

Well, that's an early war (1941), full hull kit. What exactly do you need?

Here you can check what inside the box:

As you can see the detail is high and the kit has a lot of extra parts, AA guns, boats etc.

Dan, Atma...Thanks guys for the feedback ... What do I need? It would be great if I had the largest possible number of documentary and clear photos of the ship (maybe some shipbuilding drawings, plans?). If you could recommend, also indicate the modeler and photos of his model from this period, on which you can reliably rely, my gratitude would be boundless.

Most references (of which there are many) usually focus on Nagato. The differences between she and Mutsu were not many.

Now out of publications is the Model Art Super Illustration of Nagato, which has exemplary drawings in three point perspectives of all her features, along with those details that differentiated Mutsu. Usually available on second hand sites: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/ ... -131712865

Kagero Publications also produces a volume on Nagato: https://www.ebay.com/i/152897520206?chn=ps

Dan, since Mutsu is based mostly on Nagato, and I was doing Nagato in 1/350, it looks like I can use the documentation of z Nagato, right?

For the most part, yes. Again, there are some detail differences .
