Are you sure that first photo is X turret and not the earlier platform on B turret?

A turret rangefinder hoods are angled, B turret rear armor plate has two additional facets on the outer lower corners, the vents of B-turret are different, you can see the typical awning line plus spreader (attached to the vent), I cannot see any breakwaters that should be very visible for B turret, the small bollards near the taller barbette, the jack staff has a small plate where the fog light was fitted, you can see the quarterdeck ladder's davits and there is also a boat moored at the stern (and that does not happen at the bow). So that is nine reasons to say:

:yeah: really sure

Oh, and there is a platform on X-turret that is unique to that turret :wave_1:

It almost looks like the PE platform is simply mounted too far forward on the turret.

Oh dear...! I just knew I should never post at quarter to one on the morning when I'm tired!

I know ALL of this stuff... yep, all nine points... and even thought it as I was writing my post... but I still carried on writing it regardless... just because that end framing, from that angle anyway, just looks completely different to all the other photos I have seen...

But I'm less tired today... so less oblivious to any facts that might get in the way of distorted thinking... and I think I have worked out how to get this platform right... we will see... :cool_2:

I worked out what was going on last night...

I had confused these two photographs...

This one of B Turrets earlier platform...

And this one, which you just posted, of X turrets platform...

Not exactly similar are they???

I really need to engage my brain next time - or put in a warning to ignore any late posts I may make...!

Grovelling apologies EJ...!!

After viewing turret photos posted here, it is now apparent that there is no deficiency in the number of range finder end cap 'hinges' provided but rather an error in the instructions. Two of part 839 should indeed be placed on the bottom of each end cap and one each of part 838 attached to the top. In fact, though part 839 is clearly called out for both top and bottom 'hinges' in the left hand column of the instructions, the photos for X turret in the center column show part 838 installed on the top. With that in mind, a parts count show a surplus of each provided.
As an aside, has anyone received correction parts 1 and 2?

I edited and modification of instruction Page15 temporarily.
Main reason was the confusing on 838 and 839.
(So no need additional correction PE parts for this matter)

And now arranging pdf file too and will be added soon.

Two corrections have been shipped as getting the shipping information.
If you have not received after some terms, please send shipping information again. we will ship again.

Thank you

To any of you and Mr Pontos... I got my second fret 5 a couple of weeks ago, and I'm going hell for leather on the funnels as I type this... The wrap around sheet for the funnels is awesome, and fits perfectly with my scratch built correction for the rear funnel error that Trumpeter decided to throw the curve ball in...

My Question is... looking at fret 5, I see a number of "parts" that don't have numbers next to them, and they are jammed in everywhere... they are round, and almost look like port holes, there are 12 of them in between parts 404 and 402 at the top left of fret 5 alone...

if anybody has any idea what these are, I'd be appreciated.

Cheers

These hole shape parts are "Unused Parts" to reduce the weight of each PE fret so you need not use them on Hood set.
So there is not any part number for these hole shape parts and also no instruction where these parts are used and applied.
But we recommend you that you may use these as port holes for 1/200 HMS ships.
So you may have to research for yourself for these part locations.

Good Luck!

Thanks soooooo much for your reply Mr Kim. I've actually started using them as port hole/scuttles, and they look great... Very clever use of decreasing the weight...

Next Question.

Page 1 of the instructions Top Right - item called Bit Large, it says build 13 sets, however #Fret12 only has 10 of part 905... so there are 3 missing.

Mr. Kim,
Life rafts. While I found the instructions for the Denton raft assembly on Page 2, I can't seem to find any guidance regarding the other life raft assemblies in the Pontos instruction sheets. I refer specifically to Trumpeter parts C1, G33 and G33 and the associated Pontos parts.

As it is too difficult to add wires, so we left these parts also as unused.
But this informal reference may be helpful.

WOW!!! thank you very very much, I've been looking at those for a few weeks now, as I've just completed the degaussing cable, I've been looking at this fret and deciding on my best approach.

Cheers

Hello Mr Kim,

I might have found another issue with the instructions...

On Page 8 step 2 you have parts E56 + 65 shown, these are the Trumpeter parts (it should also be E65), however I cannot see a reference to the etch part for the signal lamp, is it possible that its etch part 255 on fret #3.

Regards

Adrian

Hi guys

This is my first post, I found this page while searching for details on Trumpeter's 1/200 Hood. Until Xmas day I didn't even know that this manufacturer were producing kits in this scale let alone a model of my all time favourite warship 'Hood' Well I now have the kit and in due course once the wallet has recovered a little I'll purchase the Pontos kit which I have to say, that as a professional modeller it blows me away... first rate work guys....

Cheers

Pete

Welcome Pete.

Both the Trumpeter kit (Minus is mistakes), and The Pontos Kit are truly fantastic, Check out the Hood Society, they are a fantastic resource for all things Hoodie...

There is a build log/group here > viewtopic.php?f=59&t=165022 some great builds going off there (mine included)

Cheers
