My recently completed model of the USS Massachusetts:

This model was brush painted and was my first attempt at 1/700 scale.

Looks like you used some turned brass barrels - what other AM details/replacement parts did you use?
You've got some "silvering" on your #59 decals.

The turned brass barrels were included with the Five Star upgrade set that I mentioned in the title. I am aware of the silvering on the decals. It is a lot less apparent in person, but still slightly visible at the right angles. If you have any suggestions on how to reduce this effect, I would like to hear them.

Apart from the Five Star upgrade set, the only AM product I used was some Uschi thread for the rigging.

Silvering can be eliminated by applying a coat of gloss varnish under and one over the decals then spraying over with matte varnish.

I will likely try that in the future, thanks!
