Hi everyone!

This is my recent work of IJN Mogami. I'm rather new in modelling, with only experience is building Gundam. In this work i tried to learn as many basic technique as possible, including working with PE, stretched sprue, and rigging. This all painted with brush as i don't have airbrush tools. This one is fun experience, with a some frustrating moments in assembling PE and rigging (superglue is drying too slow and too fast at the same time!). I'm also new in WW2 naval knowledge (and naval knowledge in general :p) so i'm pretty sure there are many 'unhistorical' in this works. Not as near good as others posted in this forum, but pretty happy with the result. Looking forward for my next project (IJN Hyuga, another hybrid :p). Any advice and critics are welcome!

Several things that i learned while building this:
  • Do more research before buying
  • Aim at least 3-4 coat of thin paint for better result
  • Lighten the base color as the wash would make the color darker
  • Acrylic paint are drying too fast to be used as weathering colors
  • Practice and patience

This based from Tamiya 31341 Aircraft Carrying Cruiser IJN Mogami with several third parties:
  • Tom's Modelworks 1/700 Railing PE Set
  • Tom's Modelworks IJN Heavy Cruiser PE Set
  • Fine Molds IJN Type 2 Model 3 Catapult PE set

Great effort for the first time out of the gate. And that Mogami fit is not the simplest configuration, either.
