Here is the latest update. I got those life rafts from shelf oddity. They look like reworked versions of Trumpeter, and in amazing detail. They also look a bit undersized, like 10-20%. Still too late to turn back, Ive glued them on.

Also made small changes to the superstructure, to correct wrong fitment. I think by now I made maximum amount of changes to this Trumpeter kit to make it more or less accurate Washington.

Sorry for low quality pics as I zoom in on an old Iphone 6S PLus. I will do good photos soon as the ship is now ready for rigging and the planes are the only other thing left.

As promised, better quality pics of how BB56 sits after numerous modifications.

Rigging is next. I realized I messedup the placement of railings on catapult, they are too high. Not sure Ill redo this - as they are already fixed to the ship. ... oops. :)

Here is the promised airplane suite. The 3 Kingfishers are installed on catapults, where I screwed up a bit railing placement (too high) thanks to poor instructions and lack of my attention. They are glued shot, so one has to do with them, next time Ill do better, I promise :)

The planes are Trumpeter 1/700 option.: They are BIGGER slightly then the ones that comes from the kit - which is surprising. They are also made from clear plastic. I dunno what the advantage is, I think its easier to paint the plastic glass to look more realistic then preserve the glass on these planes. They are very brittle.

Also, huge respect for you aircraft modelers. I cannot do this 20 - 40 times times, 3 was hard enough. :D Now I know what people mean when they say flattops are the hardest to model!

I havent figured out the way the ship will be displayed yet, but I am toying with an idea of building a modular sea base which can be build around the ship and removed when necessary. I will see if I follow through with this, but even putting this ship next to waterline look gives and idea of how good looking of a boat the North Carolina class were! Next to SoDaks they are my favourite USN battleships!

Here she is next to white board cutout for the waterline base.

Finished the model!
Ill work on the display setup later, as I wanna finish few more kits till then.

Here are the pics, but I still need to figure out photography more to get best results.

It wasnt the cleanest build, with lots of changes on an already finished model, moving this or that. Still some errors obvious to some and for sure to me, yet Im happy to see this project finished! Trumpeter Washington... buyer beware!

The ship is depicted during her service with the Home Fleet, escorting convoys to Murmansk. I picked this scheme because the kit came without rear bofors mounts and I couldnt build them from scratch so... Decided to adopt. Im happy with this camouflage though, the measure 12 Modified.

Pascalemod, your Washington is an absolutely beautiful build, so it is with much hesitation that I point out a discrepancy with your OS2Us. White bars surrounded by insignia blue borders were not authorized by BuAer until 04SEP1943. Simply applying a #11 blade to remove the bars would make your aircraft stars correct for the 1942 Home Fleet time-frame. Best regards, Sandy

Hey, its OK, I am sure something I missed, aircraft are really something I know nothing about and the photos online have so much wrong data. So you're saying paint over the white/blue bars on all areas will do the trick? Removing them is not possible, they are "melted" into the paint with microsol. so only painting over is possible, but thats ok.I might do that if I can find some paint spares. :thumbs_up_1:
