Since my childhood, I have always had a soft spot for the second unit of the North Carolina class. Well, here we go, the third build. "The Kirishima Killer", November 1942.

Main components:
- 1/700 USS Washington kit; Trumpeter #5735
- Artwox deck; #20020.
- Brass USN 16''/45 Mark 6 Barrels; Master #SM-700-036
- Brass USN 5''/38 Mark 12 Barrels; Master #SM-350-017
- 5''/38 Mark 28 turrets; 3D Model Parts #U711 (or Model Monkey's 5''/38 Mark 28 Mounts; we'll see)
- North Carolina Class Funnels; Model Monkey
- USS Washington PE Upgrade Set; Five Star Model #FS700037
- Mk 38 Directors; Model Monkey
- Mk 37 (Angle Back) Directors; Model Monkey
- Quadruple 1.1" Cannons; 3D Model Parts #U707
- Single 20-mm Oerlikon Cannons - Pedestal Mount; 3D Model Parts #U701
- 24'' Searchlights; Shelf Oddity
- 36'' Searchlights; Shelf Oddity
- USN Life Rafts; Shelf Oddity
- USN Hawseholes for Fast BBs; Shelf Oddity
- USN Paravanes; Shelf Oddity

As well known, the kit itself does not represent the "Rusty W", rather the "Showboat" in her spring 1942 configuration. As such, several adjustments need to be done (installation of the aft 1.1'' mounts, some alterations to the superstructure, etc. etc.) Without doubts, there will remain a lot of inaccuracies. Please, forgive me these.

Moreover, this is my first attempt to use the complex photo-etch set...so we'll see, what happens :-)

Mostly dry-fitting still, some basic weathering on the hull and lower parts of the superstructure (however, not much to see due to intense artificial lighting combined with the gloss-coat on the hull).

The paints used are
- Model Master 5-N
- Model Master 5-H
- Sovereign Hobby Colourcoats 20-B (1942 Rev.)

You've done a great job with PE, I have built mine with original superstructures and your build looks way cleaner then mine (I did the 5/42 one).

Thank you, gentlemen!

Jose > Never been to the US, but I am planning to come next year. And at least both the BB-55 and BB-59 are on my radar...
Pascalemod > Your Washington was actually one of the inspirations for me. I've not seen a lot of models of her and the Ms 12 Mod variants are even harder to find. Good job!

Thank you! Trust me I only did her in the MS12 mod because I didnt know how to add the rear gun tubs on the stern cleanly.... :D I thought it was simpler to convert the ship a little bit, not a lot. Others use NC hulls I heard but Im not buying two kits to butcher one (especially the NC!).

Pascalemod> The kit contains an SK-2 radar. Actually, a plastic bowl. You divide it in two pieces and you got an ideal base for the rear tubs.

That is a very beautiful build David and that paint scheme IMHO is the best for the USS Washington .
Great job !!!!

A small progress... The Mk 37 directors and boat cranes in place. One picture made outside just to see the "true" shades of the Measure 22 camouflage.

Breathtaking, I wish I could achieve in 1/350 what you do on 1/700. Keep the updates coming
