Looks like Dragon are flogging their 1/350 Scharnhorst molds to death - they've just announced yet another version. This time 'Scharnhorst 1940'!
At this rate they'll be releasing a version of every month of her life!

ITEM NO: DRA 1062 Due June 2019.

How many versions will people actually buy?

They did the same thing with their Tigers, Panthers, Pz lV's, etc... At least they still seem to have some interest in ship models. They still have all those molds for German and US destroyers in 1/700 and 1/350. If they're not going to do re-molds, they should sell them to another company so they can release them.

I would be much happier to buy the Scharnhorst with original straight bow. I think the Graf Spee style bow is much cooler looking this this oversized long atlantic bow. So if Dragon makes that - Id be all for it.

Airfix make a non-Atlantic bow Scharnhorst in 1/600. I made it in 1965. Believe they can still be found. I waterline it and still have it although it is on my "to be sold list" we I get around to it.

Exactly! I ordered the Chungking combo just for the S-7 - wouldn't want to order a bunch of them just for an S-Boat flotilla. Maybe (hopefully) if and when Flyhawk releases a Vosper, they'll put all four (S-7, Vosper, PT Boat, and MAS torpedo boat) in one kit.
Their PT Boat and MAS kits arrived and disappeared with little announcement.

Is that a positive or negative answer? I wouldn't hope to kiss a pig! At least not voluntarily!

It's a little of both; mostly positive. An old saying from rural parts of the USA.
If you really want something to happen (like one kit of all the PTs) but think it may be unlikely, you'd gladly kiss a pig if that would make it come true :heh:

Dan K wrote:Fujimi is a funny company. They continue to roll out their 1/200 Yamato in incremental pieces. It's almost tempting, to build section by section. Not overwhelming. Coming in late June (images courtesy of Hobbysearch Japan):
The intention is for modelers to buy the Nichimo 1/200 Yamato kit and then replace parts with the Fujimi kits.
They don't advertise this though which makes the situation odd and how they go about introducing the products odder still. Japanese companies are really averse to advertising or saying anything that may affect another company without express written permission.

Its not that it would be illegal or anything within Japanese law, they just won't do it. Does not fit their sensibilities. That is why Japanese companies have such a hard time accepting internet bloggs, youtube creators using DMCA accepted content, or any other kind of media that does not work within this structure.

They're back. Funny thing, though, no update dated end of April, yet.

If one looks at the pictures on the ebay listing. There is one picture of the deck layout upper lower deck etc. If you compare that with the second last picture that shows the fore and aft deck (pictures 4 and 7). It does not seem to be the same deck. I wonder if Flyhawk is going to release the other K class destroyers? The ones with a smaller aft gun-house and only one torpedo mounting.

Does anybody else notice the difference?
