Hello,
Great news for us today as we are proud to announce the release of the new 1/350 USS Farragut DD-348 from Black Cat Models. We did our very best to produce the most accurate and detailed kit of the first US Navy destroyer built after WWI.
More kits are scheduled very soon, next one in a month or so. And many more projects already started !

Hello,
Time frame for the kit is post February 1945, when the destroyer had her earlier camouflage replaced by the two tones of blue Measure 21 to conceal the ship from kamikaze attacks.

Hello,
Yes a waterline version will be produced, but there will be a little delay as decision to go ahead with the project was taken only today, and it will take some time to print and prepare the new WL hull for resin casting.

Wow! Impressive looking.

Courtesy of Roger Torgeson and Tracy White, here is a scan of a negative of USS Monaghan DD-354, one of Farragut's sisters. Just to get you in the "mood" to build the new kit...

Hello,
Thank you for your message, and very happy to know that you liked the USS Farragut kit. Very rewarding for me. WL version of the destroyer is now in production, expect availability in a couple of weeks.

Black Cat Models: I just wanted to say that I took delivery of my USS Farragut yesterday. I am very pleasantly impressed with this model. From what I've seen after taking it out of the box a couple of times, is that all the pieces are impressive; the resin, the 3D items, as well as the brass, are all outstanding. Every piece is nice, sharp and precise. I have not seen a single bubble in the resin pieces, and flash pretty much non-existent. I consider the price a bargain. The quality of your model has inspired me to start the build on it immediately.

The one thing I would suggest would be to add a set of your Mk. 49 enclosed Gun Directors in the kit, as the Farragut was outfitted primarily with the Mk. 49s during the time frame that the paint scheme you are portraying. Fortunately, I ordered a set when I ordered the Farragut from you and will be using them in my build.

Again, let me emphasize how impressed I am at the receipt of your USS Farragut. It is outstanding. Please, please consider making 1/350 scale versions of the other 1500 ton American destroyer classes as well as the destroyer leader classes. These destroyer classes were so important to the allies throughout the war, and so overlooked.

Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
throck3

Hello Rick,
Very happy to know that you like the first big kit of Black Cat Models. More early Pacific War US Navy are considered in the future, but there are two kits that are almost done and will be released before we can start designing something new.
But be confident, more 1500tonners and destroyer leaders are considered, plus some other surprises... :cool_1: :cool_2:

My kit just arrived, and now I see what everyone is raving about! I think I'll be a life long customer of Blackcat! 3D printing has come a long way from 10 years ago. I swore then that I'd never buy a 3D kit, and now here we are today, I'm in love!

I'm currently working on this kit and have found that the 3-D printed parts are the most outstanding, detailed parts I have seen anywhere. The whole kit is well made and appears to go together without issues. I am now a big fan of Black Cat models and have already ordered the LCT-6 and additional detail parts for future builds. Please keep them coming.
Best, Walt Haynes
