Regarding new kits from IHP...

The Photo's of the Hull Conversion Sets from IHP look great. (Example: https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10639405). I understand these are "kits" that use parts from other OEM's models to flesh-out these hulls. Nice idea! Are these all new releases? (Pre-order started yesterday)

...And "Offshore" and "Bottom of ship" can co-exist. After all, you can't "sail" a full hull model on the carpet without breaking off the rudder and props.
Flat-bottom boats... No problem.

I have many water-line kits, That's the only way to get many model ships. I used to draw the line at waterline for wooden sailing ships though. I felt those hulls need to be seen. However. Donald McNarry did beautiful work with water-line models. Love his Staghound.

Just looked at the pics; that's a far cry from Tamiya's make-believe Scharnhorst/Gneisenau!

Before Flyhawks Scharnhorst was listed as FH1147 and as Scharnhorst 1940. Now it is listed as FH1148 and as Scharnhorst 1940.

Was it a change of heart of will they release both versions?

Inevitably it will be both 1940 and 1943, with a possible Cerberus version if there are enough differences. And Gneisenau, 1940 and 1942. In fact all of the KM major ships in all relevant configurations. That's where the money is. I doubt there is anything like the profit in a RN cruiser or destroyer. Of which I need a war emergency S-class leader, Saumarez, present at the sinking of Scharnhorst and IJN Haguro.

This is 1943 version, and it is always been rumoured to be 1943. That also connects well to the point of upcoming DoY release in 1943 pre announced shape.

Both Bronco, and Trumpeter, released decent S-100 classes in 1/350, although they need some additional detailing and AM weapons. Can this one be any better - or is Aoshima just using the same molds? The linked pics are too small for reference.

What would be the difference between a Scharnhorst 1940 and 1943. More AA on the 1943 version. But were there any structural differences?

German E Boat ( S Boot ) looks to be exact same mould ( and has the same Cat Decal ) that's the clincher for me - its just a re print

Flyhawk's M.O. for all their ship kits so far, is waterline with optional lower hull piece. Fit is excellent between between upper and lower hulls.

While going thru the Scharnhorst ad on the Hobby easy site I read that it is full hull

Calm down! Sprue shots show the usual upper hull, deck, water-line plate, and (optional) lower hull, construction that Flyhawk has always done.

Just noticed you get four main turrets. You can make one as a Gneisenau shore battery!
