Wanted to pick one up but haven't seen any reviews. Anyone have an opinion?

Devin Poore is working on a review...perhaps he'll chime in.

Sorry for the delay. I've been taking a bit of an internet break the past few days (and it's been great, by the way).

Long story short on the 1/200 scale Yorktown kit: It's okay. If you've seen the 1/200 scale Hornet kit from a few years back, you've seen this one, as it's just a reboxing. The biggest issue that jumps out is that the hull isn't correct. It's much much closer than the old 1/350th scale Trumpeter Hornet hull, but it's not exactly right, with the area underneath the forward 5" galleries being a bit too thick, and the lack of any reverse tumble home (I'm sure there's a better way to describe that) under the hangar deck amidships. If you build her waterline, then I don't think it'll be that big of a deal, and for a lot of people, even full-hull, they won't notice. I'm calling out this issue as someone that's been obsessed with CV-5 since I was 12, so it really jumps out at me. If it were another ship, I probably wouldn't care. But, I am very disappointed that they didn't scale up the mostly correct 1/350th scale Merit hull for this model (yes yes, the plating on that hull isn't correct, but that's why they make sandpaper)

Otherwise, the kit looks fine, but there are a few things that I noticed. Items such as the AA guns, small boats, searchlights, etc, are all really well done. The flight deck is finely engraved, has the proper number of planks between the tie-downs, but completely lacks any arresting gear, ammo elevators, etc.

That's a quick take.

Hi Corey, Did you ever get into the 1/200 Yorktown?
Cheers, Harley

Not really different shape at bow is most glaring difference
