Of course you can! However, Lützow (note the dots on the ü, the pronunciation is quite different in German when these are absent) never became 'DKM' as she/he wasn't completed, so her looks are open for free interpretation. Using the 1945 Prinz Eugen would be a good starting point.

Ive just started my 1:350 trumpeter Prinz Eugen with the Flyhawk PE kit and im having some issues interpreting Flyhawks instructions.

Is someone able to explain how the torpedo reload tracks are to be fitted?

the Instructions show parts 17 & 19 as curved, yet they are straight on the fret, do these need to be bent? and i cant for the life of me work out how the assembly is then attached to the deck itself (after removing the existing molded track)

Hipper and Blucher had a different airplane hanger than Prinz. I have never seen a photo or diagram of how the first ships hangers opened. Couldn’t slide forwards into the funnel, or backwards into the catapult? maybe hinged on each side, split in the middle and swung open like a clamshell?

Hi , I was planning on building a 700 A.H/P.E and wondering what are the general opinions on the kits available ? Is there a most accurate one ? What upgrades to use for it ? Or are there simple fixes / replacement ?

Thanks .

Slowly advancing in my build of PE but now stuck on finding information of the fire control and other control equipment on deck. I mean these small machines with optics, to steer the flak, torpedos, search lights etc.

Any sources for this?

To start with, I would like know what these are. I have some sources telling the following:
1. Torpedo directing unit
2. Zielsaule C/38 night director
3. ?
4. ?
5. ?
6. in Trumpeters model looks like here should be binoculars
7. Looks like ZAG flak director

In this picture we can see bioculars and on the right side I think ZAG flak director. I can't figure where this picture is taken, somewhere aft...

Looks like Heller are going to re-release their 1/400 Admiral Hipper / Prinz Eugen kit:

Slow progress on my Prinz, this must be the most complicated funnel ever, so many details! I think there are two things Trumpeter didn't get quite right in the 1/350 modell:
1. the torpedo storage container is too long, I've indicated in the pics the correct lenght.
2. I noticed also that the vents on the bottom of the funnel are not identical on both sides, see the pictures.

I haven't seen any other notes on these and wanted to share for anyone else still building PE.

I think the aft rangefinder is not square as in the Trumpeters model, although in the original drawings it also seems to be square. Opinions?

2 of my drawings show same as in that picture of yours, squarish with rounded corners.

If you compare the distance from the mast (which sits in the middel) to the front / sides I think they're not equal.

Working on the Arados and found out the hangar is very tight, either its too narrow or the plane is too wide. The tail barely fits, touhcing the ceilings and the wings have to be folded into too much upright postition to fit. Note that the wings don't fold from the back end of the wing and the flaps are down in this position, but even with these modifications a tight fit.

To make the Arado perfect I'm missing a swastika to the tail, any hints where to get?

Dear KM Experts

Can you confirm the swastika ID markings on Admiral Hipper in 1940? Did it have one on the both the focsle and the stern? I can't find any confirmatory photos, but maybe this was the standard rule in 1940?

Thanks

Andrew

Thanks very much Guys!

I fear I may have to portray my Hipper as somewhere through its painting cycle between January and April 1940

The hanger space goes a deck lower. That way the aircraft fits fine.

The challenge is width, not height, picture shows just test fit.
