For the waterliners, the Danish navy took a great shot of Peter the Great as she passed through the Danish Straits on her way to St. Petersburg earlier this week - the camera orientation and calm waters make her wake pattern very clear to discern and replicate:

Does any one know where a person can obtain the Kirov plan book, and how accurate is it?

If this has been asked before in the duration of this thread I apologize:
Where was the ship's bell located on the Varyag? I have seen a photo of it on line but can't tell where it was mounted.
TIA,
Chuck

It can be seen at least here on the starboard side amidships: https://i.imgur.com/jDWaj.jpg

Hi Chuck, if you look at Tim's first link you will also see a second bell, located on the starboard aft signal deck (rear of the foremast)

The bell located on one deck, near the gangway, is the ceremonial ship's bell and is only shipped when the vessel is in harbour, at anchor or at a buoy etc.

Aha. Yes, I see the other one now. The one on the forward superstructure looks like the one I have a closeup of. Thanks for the clarification!

Good morning gents. I have new a question today...

Was Varyag ever equipped with the curved/ribbed "Air Search radar" screens atop her forward superstructure? Or did she always have the "Top Plate radar" which looks like two pizza boxes?

TIA,
Chuck

Not sure this is definitive but...
I have been unable to find any photos of Varyag with the rotating curved screen radar, which was installed on the first two Slava class cruisers. All the pictures I have seen of the Varyag--the third Slava--show her with the two plate system.

So, prior to my last deployment, I came across a great deal on a.1/350 SLAVA with PE and other aftermarket stuff, and always being a fan of these brutes, I bought it without question. So, then, on said deployment, I got to see Marshal Ustinov (CG-055) up close. My kit happens to be Varyag (CG-011). So, I was hoping there might be someone out there who has 055 markings who would be willing to swap them for 011 markings.

Thanks,

Dave

Is anyone aware of an update kit or full kit of the upgraded Marshal Ustinov as shown in this picture? It's a post card and the image is dated 2018.

I am not familiar with that large search radar on the aft mast.

With the loss of the Moskva covered extensively in another thread here, does anyone here have any update on the 4th incomplete ship of the class, Ukrainia? Will she still be sold to Brazil? I somehow doubt the Ukrainians can crew her considering the lack of Russian-supplied SSMs or other weapons systems.

And as mentioned in the other thread, there is a 1/700 Trumpeter kit of the 4th incomplete ship in theortetical Ukrainian Navy service, with the name "Vilna Ukrainia" .
