Hello to all of the group.
This is cross posted from another section here - hope I am not crossing bounds...
I am new to this forum, but am highly interested in Type VII U-boats. I am working on a 1:35 scale miniature (yea...miniature) of a Type VIIc U-boat that I want to build entirely from scratch.
Worse, I want to do it as a cut-away, so I can show the guts.

It is a huge project that I want to do - the finished model would be just over 6 feet at 1:35th scale, but hey - when you want to learn to sky dive, you have to let go of the plane, eh?!!!
I have tons of experience doing WWII German armor, and am confident that my skills are up to it, provided I have good ref. material.

I have been collecting drawings for boats of this type, especially ones from Kiel, but would like to ask if anyone can point me to drawings of the guts, innards, technical plans, and especially deck plans for a Type VIIc first generation U-boat.
I read German and English, so foriegn language plans do not intimidate me.
Thanks in advance...
Date (pronounced "Dah-Tay") Saburou Yukiie

hallo, and welcome aboard.

two books which will be of use are

Westwood AOTS Type VII U-Boat
Rossler The U-Boat

the first is mainly about the VIIc with cross-sections and plans, the second is the complete history of German U-Boats but contains lots of plans. Probably just to build the model (miniature) Westwoods ATOS will be most usefull.

good luck with your building

Terry

NARA in College Park, MD has all the captured U-Boat documents. Not sure what's there but there are a few reels of microfilm and indexes to drawings in the Cartographic section.
