Thank you very much Norberto! there is a brass tube that inserts snugly into the plastic for added strength but I'm very happy with how it's turned out. There actually turns out to be quite a few different barrels fitted between this version of the gun and the older rounder turret version. Luckily the barrel for this one is the 62 calibre and almost perfectly straight where the 54 calibre which is on the older turret isn't
Working on more of the finer detail I've made up most of the aerials now. I'm sure most would have seen this method. Just used piano wire, brass tube and plastic tube inserted into each other. All three lengths are full lengths again for strength and the brass tube is slightly longer and drilled into the base. This should hopefully keep them strong enough for a working model. I've knocked a couple while in position by accident and while flexible nice and strong due to the piano wire.
The large bases are moulded fittings but the smaller ones on the aft stack (still two more to add) and on the stern are made from plastic tube trimmed to size. I've also got two smaller ones to add the top if the tower structure.

One of the things I find interesting about the evolution of the destroyer's main armament (well, at least the 5" gun), is how it went from being a bulky manual-load crew-served weapon housed in a large, semi- or full-enclosure turret to being what amounts to a remote-controlled semiautomatic rifle mounted on a plinth...blown up to ludicrous proportion.

Yeah I know what you mean. Talking about that yesterday with one of the guys who's building an australian tribal. He was saying how they were the super destroyer during the war though it's tiny next to my Brissy. He's also building HMAS Perth ww2 the leander light cruiser and she's also smaller than Brissy! He was saying how these new destroyers could easily sink the ww2 cruisers without even needing to see it anymore and a fleet of them at that.

Grating added to bridge wings. Turns out I don't have enough!! The grating should go back to past the typhoon, not too much of a problem as I've finished the grating in the same spot for now until I can get some more. That's 6 packs total I've used for the wings and the grating behind the forward stack.
I've also made up a raised platform for around both typhoons as it can be seen on some ships.

Hey Norberto haha yep that's the VLS (vertical launch system) from another TF72 club member Scott who has built the Sydney also an AWD. There's also a Hobart AWD fitted and an Arleigh Burke USS Winston Churchill.

Both those models are from bases on the east coast, but by the end of the year my Brisbane should be fitted and another mates Kirov cruiser Peter the Great and his Arleigh Burke USS Roosevelt also. Once I've built my Steregushchy I'm planning on fitted her with some so we'll have two russian and a US and Australian ships firing over here in the west

Hi Sean, the missiles are just foam dummies with the mini rocket motors attached. The dummies survive and just float so will have to fish them out - part if the agreement with the local councils, can't litter or leave projectiles - not sure what the guys do over east but were thinking of rigging up one of the tugs with a trawling net to catch them after.

Thanks Norbert, yep it's an enamel auto primer. It's a very fine primer with a slighty satin - semi gloss finish. I'll be using enamels again as the top coat with a satin finish. As it's a working model I won't be using any arcrylics.
