Re: 1/200 NEW JERSEY
Hi Song,
Phenomenal work!
I am new to the forum but I have seen several of your incredible builds posted and admire your talent and attention to detail. You are the Jedi Master of wooden model ship building!
I am also trying to build a ship made of wood using craft sticks, but I can't achieve the same results as you, I'm still a novice.
May I ask what glue you use? I've been using PVA.
Are all of the wood pieces you use ginkgo?
Also, how do you make the sticks for the mast and fence or safety railings so thin? How thick are the sticks for the fencing? I would appreciate your advice thanks.
Regards,
Phil

Welcome this forum and my model making story!
I've been experenced in 15 years of wood warship model.
Yes I used almost of all wood pieces except railing and rigging.
I used a drill to making sticks (small diameters of ) also mast materials.
I roughly cutt the wood or Bamboo and then bite the drill chuck.
and rotate the drill and hold the sand paper on the rotating wood stick untill wanted diameter of it.
i used Bamboo for making railings. The outer part of Bamboo Is used in steelwire of railing and inner part of it used pole of railing. the inner part is relatively soft then outers.
The Bamboo is very easy to split in length.
You can understand to see the pictures below.
Regards,
Song.

Hi Song,
Thank you for the advice and the welcome, I appreciate it.
I'm building with popsicle sticks so I will see if I can try what you've suggested with them.
Also, I use PVA wood glue. Do you use a different type of glue?
Regards,
Phil

Hi Song,
Your detail work is incredible as always!
Thank you again for your advice with the bamboo and making the right diameter by using a drill.
I tried your idea with my popsicle sticks when making the propeller shaft and it worked very well.
I am very happy with the result, thank you again. I haven't tried it with making railings and posts yet but will try that too.
Cheers,
Phil

Hi Song,
I agree with Aop "absolutely phenomenal"!
The detail is so incredible, I zoomed in the picture and every detail looks perfect! I couldn't even see a spot of glue! How do you make such tiny pieces stick in one place when it takes so long for the glue to dry? I glued my propeller blades to the prop shaft yesterday and I had to hold each piece steady for so long, one even stuck to my finger LOL.
Awesome work Song, great to watch it happening.
Regards,
Phil
