A set of Oerlikon tubs is available separately in several scales, now, for those who need some right away.

I feel like a pest. I was searching through Shapeways. I couldn't find any 40mm gun tubs.

I haven't designed a generic set of Bofors tubs because there are too many variations of those tubs, even on a single ship, so many that a generic set wouldn't meet scratchbuilding customer's needs.

PM coming your way.

Hello Steve,
Regarding your corrected 1/700 North Carolina class funnels, the attachment points for the funnels, parts A3 and C1 on the Trumpeter North Carolina kit, are teardrop shape. Can anything be done about that?
Thank you.

Hi Louis,

According to drawings by Thomas F. Walkowiak (The Floating Drydock), Trumpeter's teardrop-shape attachment points (base of the funnels) is accurate. No change there is needed. It's just the funnels themselves that Trumpeter got wrong.

Cheers!

We are pleased to announce that a design for a set of three 16"/45 cal. South Dakota BB-57 class Turrets with barrels is complete in 1/350 scale and has been added to the catalog. These turrets are intended to replace the inaccurately shaped and poorly detailed turrets found in Trumpeter's 1/350 scale USS Massachusetts and USS Alabama kits.

The set is available in most popular scales.

This set of three-gun turrets (more properly called "gunhouses") represents the enormous main battery of battleships USS South Dakota BB-57, USS Indiana BB-58, USS Massachusetts BB-59 and USS Alabama BB-60. They are nearly identical to, but very slightly larger than, the gunhouses of the preceding North Carolina class battleships and differ in minor detail.

Features:
- scaled from scans of original builder's blueprints
- open armored rangefinder viewport shutters
- rangefinders with telescopic sights visible through the open shutters of the armored covers
- rooftop screwheads acurately sized, numbered and located
- armored rangefinder hexhead bolt and screw details
- detailed rooftop periscopes
- left periscope for Turret #2 is accurately offset slightly to the right, just like the left periscope of the real Turret #2
- turrets are marked inside (1, 2 or 3) to identify which turret is which
- accurately sized and shaped ventilation trunks
- detailed turret-bottom crew access hatch, accurately offset slightly to the left
- barrels grouped on a trunnion to allow the modeler to set the position of the barrels to any realistic elevation from +45 degrees to -1 degree (-2 degrees for Turret #3), just like the real turrets

Happy Modeling!
Steve

Large scale USN fast battleship fans! An entirely new design for 5"/38 cal. Mk.28 Twin Mounts has resulted in a 50% price drop in 1/200 scale, 1/192 scale, 1/100 scale and 1/96 scale. Each mount is loaded with detail.

Correct Mk.28s may now be within budget for those with Trumpeter 1/200 scale Iowa and Missouri kits. Both kits 5"/38 mounts are the wrong type, Mk.32s, a lighter-weight version designed for cruisers and aircraft carriers.

Very happy to announce a set of accurately shaped and sized and highly detailed 16"/45 cal. Triple Turrets for South Dakota class battleships has been added to the catalog in 1/700 scale!

These are a tad bit different from the earlier North Carolina class turrets being very slightly larger and having different details.

dear sirs,

I am truly interested in your 1/350 Saratoga '36-'40 Island, but would like to know if you plan to design it in a simplier concept with windows/portholes closed. I personnaly prefer closed bridge windows (and also hope this item could be less expensive).

thank you.

sincerely,
A. BRANDT

The price is based on the amount of material being used, so making closed windows would be more expensive, although only by a tiny amount if the windows are small.

Well if details are removed leaving just the basic structures, then that will surely decrease the price.

Sumner and Gearing class destroyer fans! We are very happy to announce a set of three, accurately shaped and highly detailed 5"/38 cal. Mk.38 Twin Mounts has been added to the catalog. The design reflects the World War Two appearance of the mounts, before the addition of external stiffeners.

Sets are available in most popular scales.
