Sorry Jon I took these online for several Russian website locations and these were all they had anyway. But then again I am always on the look out for more. I really liked these images simply because so much detail in such a small image. In some cases I only got a thumb nail but better this than nothing.
Thanks Neptune I do have this image already but still worth sharing with the group. At the moment the ship is on hold till I have the money to purchase the propellers for the model. Hopefully very soon. I'm on the lookout for a good image side on underwater. I want to see if the ship has anything hanging of the side under the waterline apart for the stabilizer and are there any fins?
These are wonderful pictures for the modeler , almost makes you want to build the ship. Many years ago I was visiting the Soviet Union and the very thought of having photos of that nature would have you in some holiday camp enjoying the tundra the other side of the Steppe.

Well on this particular picture you can see there are Bilge Keels on the sides of the Kuz.
Not sure what that stuff in the hull on top of the propellors is. It looks a lot like our echo sounder transducers, but placing that in such a number and on top of your propellors doesn't look like a good idea... On the side I have no idea what else they could be.
I don't have any real side pictures as it's pretty unusual to see a carrier on land. Dry docks are often very narrow places, not suitable to take nice side shots. Unless from up close or sideways from the bow or stern, but even then there is often too little space and light to see anything.
Those disks on the underwater hull look like part of a cathodic protection system. Those look like the anodes which is probably why there is no paint around them. Most ships have bolt on zincs or some other form of protection around the propellers and rudders where increased flow and cavitation can increase corrosion.
Ah yes, how could I have missed that. Maybe they have this electrode protection system, using electricity and sending it through the hull, starting from these points to the "receivers" somewhere upwards. Anodes on our ships are a lot different from this, that's why I didn't think about it.

I Have booked in with a specialist who is going to help me get everything 100% right so I just have to wait a few days for an opening, there is no room in his work shop for my monster so I have to work outside his little factory. This means shafts and motors correctly set up for this model, so by all means the model should come out ready to steam under its own power as soon as the radio control and batteries are installed. He's very busy just right now but before the end of this week the model will be in his work shop. I will post the pictures as soon as its done.

Sctatchbuilt 100% by my dad who has passed away. I also have my dads plan collection with a nice variety of Russian warships. Eg Slava, Kresta 1 and 2, Kara, Udaloy, Sovremenny, Osa, Nanushka just to name a few.
Its a very impressive model, your father must have been a very talented draughtsman . I'm looking forward to updates on the Kuznetsov and your other models, I will try to get around to starting a new model soon.
